Booksmart

I'll probably see it one day this week after work just to support Wilde.

I’m going to save my money on films that actually need it. I heard there’s a small indie flick coming out this week called Godzilla King of Monsters? Heard it should be good.

Seeing it tomorrow and looking forward to it, but why release it Memorial Day weekend? Especially with how loaded this Summer has already been with Endgame, Pikachu, John Wick 3 and Aladdin out right now with Godzilla this Friday. I felt the same about Long Shot. Why not late July or Mid August, when people start getting exhausted by the huge action?

Counter programming can work. Especially if the movie has a low budget.

It didn't feel like it was marketed as true counter programming though. It felt like it was marketed like another Superbad, which although rated R would attract a lot of the same people who would want to see the bigger stuff more.

And of course Superbad was released in August, not the same day as Pirates of the Caribbean 3.

I get they probably wanted to release this around the time school is ending in America, but it would've benefited far more with an August release.

Olivia Wilde is trying hard to push this on her Twitter account.

Seems like every damn celebrity is tweeting about this movie this week

I can't look at those anymore, poor Booksmart, go see Booksmart, OMG Booksmart everywhere :lmao:

I would have released it in major markets first to build word of mouth. Releasing nation wide at first just sets it up to fail.

Could be worse, like it's here in Poland - opening against Hobbs & Shaw which is gonna be huge AND has funnier trailer than Booksmart

This was excellent. Not normally something I would go watch, but after Olivia Wilde's amazing performance in A Vigilante, I wanted to show some love.

I really liked this too, but I thought some of their secondary characters were really bad. I hated what they ended up doing with Jessica Williams' character and the stereotypical theater kids weren't great either.

I caught this yesterday, loved it. Instant classic, and a film I certainly see myself re-watching often.
