Comedy is probably the biggest seller at the box office right now (hence Wedding Crashers and Meet the Fockers) and if a movie combines action and comedy it appeals to the largest possible demographic, both male and female. Batman Begins still only appeals to a mostly male audience.

Of course not, but the film's trailer had a lot of comedy elements in it (AND let's not forget Vince Vaughn's prominent presence in the trailer).
I can imagine Mr. & Mrs. Smith being the kind of movie a lot of couples agree on at the box office when they can't find anything else they both wouldn't mind seeing. Definitely more so than Batman Begins.

Mr and Mrs Smith is an action comedy, it´s a mix of both genres.

I think it's more action than comedy. The comedic parts are the standard conventions that popcorn action movies that try to appeal to a wider audience, like small light humour. I guess you could call it action comedy but I would have thought the studio would see it as action/romantic. There wasn't enough comedic parts to make an action comedy per se, just the standard comic stuff of a popcorn flick. If that makes sense

Just Like Heaven: $21 to 24 million opening weekend on its way to $85 million.
Lord of War: $9 to 11 million on its way to $25 million total.
Cry_Wolf and Venom: Cry_Wolf may be able to make between $2 to 3 million weekend thanks to its commercials, but Venom probably won’t even make a million this weekend. Only the former should get into the Top 10, barely, but it will be lucky to make $6 million total.

IMO even if this one is better than the 3rd film and people still love it, i doubt it would make that much, its got alot of competion, Narnia comeout a few weeks after this and you know all the kids will be off to see that
