Big gap there from Deadpool to Incredibles.

Wonder if any film can get into the $800 - $900 bracket?

Fallout will me thinks.

I think you're right.

Also meant to say my post wasn't just concerned with the films already out - do you think any other films scheduled for this year will make it that high?

What big films are left? Poppins, Aquaman, Bumblebee...others?

The new Fantastic Beasts is a possibility. The first grossed $814 million. Aquaman is another possibility. And obviously you can't rule out the possibility of a surprise in the upcoming holiday season similar to Jumanji last year.

Poppins will hoover up the $$$$. She is almost guaranteed to 'fill' that place of money, in that gap. Its' got the 'new, middle & old' appeal of the audience. Its a Christmas film that many will buy into.

As of August 12th.

* Im not listing Chinese films that havent released in NA and EU and are not listed in Boxofficemojo.

My thoughts.

That 1-2 combo from MCU is amazing.Great films great boxoffice. Cant wait for Avengers 4.

Amazing year for Superhero films. Venom and Aquaman still to come and im routing for both even though i want Sony to go bankrupt for the sake of SpiderMan.

Superhero fatigue anyone ? :D

Im pretty sure that the first 4 films have a lock for their positions.
The number 5 spot is still up for grabs.Hang in there Deadpool.

Speaking of Deadpool 2 , even when it opened and a couple of weeks in nodoby thought it would pass 700 mil. Amazing run for a film that doesnt compare to the original , lets be honest.

Ready Player One and Rampage should give a huge thanks to China.

Solo a Star Wars Story what a dissapointment in every level. What a sad boxoffice result for a Star Wars film. Unexpected.

Pacific Rim 2 was underwhelming.

A Quiet Place. What a great film. It deserved more tbh. Cant wait for the sequel.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is heading for 600+ mil. Ready Player One is going to be dethroned.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout is heading for 650-750 mil. It might catch Deadpool although i doubt it personally.

Upcoming blockbuster films that will probably enter the top 20

September - The Predator
October - Venom
November - Fantastic Beasts 2 , Wreck it Ralph 2
December - Aquaman , Bumblebee , Mortal Engines

There are a couple of others but they dont seem so strong to me.

Maybe in the UK. Doubt it'll do big business in Asia or Latin America though, especially with Aquaman and Bumblebee opening at the same time.

Why are you listing Dying to Survive and Hello mr Billionaire ?

The list is supposed to have the top movies that released Worldwide/Globally.

Those 2 movies are regional releases only released in China if im not mistaken.

I wouldnt list movies that released only in a few countries of one Continent.

I list the top grossing movies plain and simple. For me it doesn't matter if a movie makes all its money in one country or several countries. Those Chinese movies deserves to be on the list because they made the money they did.

Yes i understand that.

Technically you re correct. The numbers are numbers but in the spirit of Worldwide / Global competition its not right.

The list is supposed to be movies that audiences all over the world have seen.

Personally for me they dont count.

Well, everyone can have their own opinion on how these lists should look like and it's not like there a law written on how they should look like. A site like Box Office Mojo is doing it one way and other sites are doing it differently.
