Brad Pitt will be taking on the 4th Mission: Impossible?

Brad Pitt doesn't have the same magnetism as Tom Cruise. I doubt he can carry a movie franchise the size of MI. I get that "ice cube in xXx" feeling.

Brad Pitt is a better actor than Ice Cube. BY FAR.

He'll draw people in.

Yeah.......Pitt is probably a bigger draw NOW than Cruise is, and probably will be in the future.

People have seemed to get tired of Cruise...and creeped out by his apparent "craziness".......but Pitt would be a good choice.

Now, the REAL question is.....would Pitt even do it? I mean......he's in a position where he could tell them "**** you" and still be good.

He's practically replaced him in "media darling" status, and is rocketing in appeal all the time. He's really become quite the Hollywood power player.

He is Brad Pitt, after all, and I think he's become a truly big star as of late. I think he's quite capable of carrying a franchise at this point. If there was anybody who could take over from Cruise at this point, it would be Pitt.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE was an entity long before Tom Cruise ever decided to make a movie with it. I don't think the film series is entirely Cruise-dependent.

Agreed. The MI movies were a different animal than the tv series. MI-1 was watchable, and 2 and 3 just got further and further away from the source material.

And Tom Cruise added very little to that watered down formula.

I would be interested in an MI movie with Pitt in it.

I like the idea. Brad Pitt's better than Tom Cruise in acting, the looks department, and in the relationship department.(No offense to Katie, but she's no Angelina)

I could care less about Cruise's personal beliefs but he hasn't impressed me with any of his roles after the 80's.

I would not be surprised if MI:4 (if ever made) pulls an xXx 2 & kills off the previous main character (like they did with Xander) & just say that he died. Then IMF hires Mr. & Mrs. Smith & they can combine the MI Franchise with Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Hey Hollywood has done crazier things :woot:

I'd rather have someone like Colin Farell, Pitt is too...Pitt. Even though Farrell has done some bad movie choices in the past years, he's not that bad of an actor.

Well I'll gladly borrow his 'monkey' looks for a few weeks of bedding angelina Jolie plus any other girl that I feel like hooking up with. Very few men on earth have that privilage.

yes I know...I thank the lord for the generous bounty he has given me. :cwink:

Yeah, despite what I think of Cruise... He was awesome as Hunt,. Exspecially in the 3rd film. I would like to see him continue but if they were to leave Hunt at the third film I will be happy they ended that series on a high note.

Pitt in a new series could be really cool.

i would see a MI movie with pitt. would be a nice change of pace. tom cruise's character had a nice happy ending in the third movie. time to move on.

I think it's a mistake. Pitt is a great actor, but to do this wouldn't be a wise move for anyone. Whether you like Cruise or not, he IS the face of Mission Impossible now, and to replace him with a new actor and character would give this movie that "direct to video sequel" feel, even if the actor is someone as popular (and good) as Brad Pitt. It also would make Pitt look limited in range, since he played a similar type of character in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Pitt's an awesome choice. Although naturally Cruise owns Hunt, Brad would make for a great M:I agent.

I think that's what makes it kinda sad for me.

Cruise does a good job. He's awesome. But.....his personal life, the way he behaves outside of his film work......it's begun to have an impact on his professional life.

I really cant see this happening but then again I never thought Redstone would blast Cruise in public the way he did so...

Pitt doesn't "feel" like Mission: Impossible to me...Pitt's a cool guy, but he's not that great of an actor. it'll be Mr. & Mrs. Smith all over again but w/out Mrs. Smith.

if he hadn't done the Matrix, i think Keannu Reeves would've been perfect for taking over the helm. i liked him in Speed.

as far as Cruise, i don't see why everyone hates him. it's not like he did anything "wrong". i've liked most of the movies i've seen him in....M:I3 was the best out of the 3 though. so yeah...

...BRING J.J. BACK OR DON'T DO IT AT ALL! hehe

This makes no sense to me . Why would Brad Pitt a big star in his own right want to take on someone else's franchise ? Tom cruise is the MI film franchise to me and the films shouldn't be done if he isn't the star. Really it's not like Pitt is straving for roles he doesn't need this and I don't want to see it happen.

Still when most people think of Mission Impossible, they think Tom Cruise

What about Matt Damon?
He was awesome in Bourne Identity and he is young enough to keep the franchise going for a while.

Ive never been a Cruise fan, he has always seemed like a cocky hothead to me.
Which, oddly enough, is the role he always plays.

This is quite possibly one of the stupidest things I've ever heard.

As crazy as Cruise might be now in days, he IS Mission: Impossible, and it's ridiculous to continue this without him. They should just end the goddamn series already.
I agree with this. Good trilogy IMO. I loved all three movies. I guess we can't expect them not to milk a cash cow, though.

EDIT: Addendum: If they were bring in a new character in the form of Pitt now that Ethan Hunt has retired. That'd be good. I don't think they should recast Ethan, though.

That's the plan.

He is already part of two ongoing franchises I doubt hed want to do another one. Especially when one is similiar to one of the franchises
