Okay, so I've heard about Brainiac's appearence in the novel.

I can't confirm it, but....if it's true:

So....I think if we take it in consideration, as continuity, it would mean that Brainiac WILL be in the sequel.

And, it makes sense really. Brainiac is an A.I., and the Kryptonian crystals hold Kryptonian technology. So, one of (if not all) might have had Brainiac's data on it and released when it grew out.

Thoughts?

Superman Returns novel. Ending, when he tosses New Krypton into space. Supposedly, it transforms into Brainiac as it floats away and Superman falls from the sky.

Definitely! I have an idea of a cool looking Brainiac. Do ya'll remember the part in STM when Jor-El's face turns to crystal? Well, wouldn't it be a cool tie in to the first film to have Brainiac look like a crystaline Jor-El. Superman would be forced to fight his heritage!

Nah.....Routh fighting a robot-Marlon Brando sounds.......I dunno, pretty far out.

But, it'd had been cool to see NK do that on film.

HAHAHAHAAHOOOHAOAHAOA, so this is the lame ass hat ending Singer came up with? Thank god the first one tanked cause this sounds like POS2. Wow, just... bad.

Well, not exactly Brando just have his face resemble the crystal form of Jor-el. He could be visually interesting. You know the trademark three circles on his forehead could be enbeded inside his transparent head, and he could have a green internal glow from absorbing the kryptonite as an energy source. I thought about using this idea for a fan fic. But I don't know!:)

from what i garnered from those who read the novel there is no inidcation that Braniac was there, all it said is that Superman tosses NK out to space (this was unknown at the time). it was from this early spoiler that some fans (i know i was included :O) conjectured that it would be a good jumping point to Braniac in the sequel, since as you pointed out Braniac is of Kryptonian technology.

anyone who has the actual novel can confirm or debunk if there was any mention of Brainiac, but from what i remember of discussions at the Novel thread and other threads that emerged from it there was no mention of Braniac or any other Kryptonian. its all just conjecture from fans.

Guess we'll have to find someone who read the book.

I think Brainiac has got to be the villian that gets the call next film. He seems like the obvious candidate to me.

I would rather see Metallo.

as with me :p

but i want Spacey to be in all three films. and not some ridiculous bit part like what Hackman got in S2. there's a storyline in JLU where Lex merges with Braniac. makes a whole lot of sense: Luthor wants unlimited knowledge, power and immortality, Braniac wants to cross the limitations of an inoragnic form and be organic, be "complete". perfect match.

Hell yeah!! That would rock. Lexiac vs. Superman! :)

Maybe new krypton will collide with an asteroid and BOOM it explodes or implodes, whatever happens in space, and the krystals clump together and turn into this amorphous rock-thing that zooms towards earth and lands somewhere. Then some guy goes near the rock thing and pokes it with a stick, and taks over his body. Instant supervillain. It could be brainiac.

Hey that would be a cool origin for Kryptonite Man!!

from the novel:

Gil checked his notes. "Well, astronomers say it settled into orbit somewhere between Mars and Jupiter. Supposedly, it's laced with kryptonite, and it's still growing." Perry nodded. "But what are we calling it? It needs a name. Something splashy. Something big."

that's basically all it says about New Kypton in the new novel....after this paragraph they actually have Lois suggest the name New Kypton....but anyways...ChrisBaleBatman asked for this so there ya go...

Thanks alot man. I guess there was no mention of Brainiac at all then.

Metallo is more of a muscle player, think something like Bizarro almost. I could see Metallo being more like a thug who can kick Superman's ass, PLUS have Kryptonite for a heart. He's not going to really threaten the city or the world the way Brainiac can.

I like this design:

Yes, I loved the old death's-head ship.
I wonder if Brainiac will be mechanical? I hope it's not just an actor. :down

That'd be disappointing. Brainiac's a machine.

I always liked the pre-crisis look:

it would be a guy in a blue suit with motion capture dots all over him

*cough*AndySerkis*cough*

;)

That sounds like a likely starting off-point for the sequel and a great way to introduce braniac. I also think Richard White should turn into Metallo over the course of the next 2 movies (hopefully there are 2). I see it kind of being like the character arc of Harry Osborn in Spiderman.
