He did crack a smile. A grin. Just no teeth. He would have looked too conceited if he did.

That's what I was thinking. Something along the lines of "Don't get cocky, kid." ;)

Great job on being humble in that moment.

It wasn't Singer's choice entirely, Singer himself said that he would have cast Brandon on the spot if the choice was up to him but he had to convince the studio as well.

Brandon has some good likeness to Christopher Reeve but overall not a very good likeness to Superman.

where u get those screencaps

SR has been downloadable from the internet for weeks. Bootlegs have been out for awhile.

Brandon Routh is a great choice for Superman - his potential was however wasted.

That is one neutral affect, not a smile. A grin is not cocky, it is what happens when you save a plane full of people and have 50k+ people screaming your name. Hate to say it, but the Supes performance was near Annakin Skywalker, Tom Welling range for 'wooden.'

I would say nowhere near as bad as Anakin, his whiny performance literally made me cringe in my theater seat. His performance was mature enough to hold my interest...with what little material Singer gave him. I hope they put more trust in him next time because his scenes are the ones that shine in this movie.

He was pretty good, he's not the reason why people say it's bad

I pretty much got what I was expecting from Brandon. A Reeve-esque performance with a more realistic twist. (Reeve will always be tops though)

Routh did a good job, but the story was weak, and incorporating Jason as Superman's son is really weak.

You should have another option besides "great". He didn't do a bad job, but did he do a great job? Not IMO. Better than good, but less than great. He could only do so much though with a weak story. If this had been a reboot, I might be more inclined to say he did a great job, but the story really dragged his performance down. This is not a reflection on any of the actors, but definitely Singer and the story writers.

Brandon Routh did a fantastic job, my only complaint with the entire movie was that he didn't have enough lines.

Routh is superman.

I prefer Routh to Reeve, this is my own personal preference, I think Routh captures Supermans humanity and warmth just a little better, however there is no denying that Routh and Reeve are both Superman. Reeve was able to bring Supes strength across a little better, but I think that was more a problem with Routh not having enough lines.

While I don't believe overall that Routh was doing a Reeve impression, there were some obvious parts where he did do a Reeve mannerism, assumably on purpose, which I'm sure could have been avoided.

Overall SR is excellent, and Routh is a very large reason why.

Yes Anakin was annoying. I didn't like him. Routh did very well imo.

He was awesome. An unknown was the best way to go for the same reasons as the first Superman movie. Otherwise it is "so and so actor in a cape".

Unfortunately horrible quality... until Monday. :D.

I at first was skeptical of Brandon Routh trying to fill in Christopher Reeves shoes. I grew up on Christopher Reeves, so pretty much was sold onto him playing th iconic superhero and no one else. But Brandon surprised me. He was great. I liked the way he was able to keep in tune with CR, and he created a presence all his own.

I am also hoping to see him either play an evil version of Superman, or just a villian in a completely different movie, I think he would be great. He showed a hint of what he is capable of when he gave that cold glare, after the gunman had shot the bullet that bounced off of SM eye. Really, that was a great glare. Who needs lines when you can have a stare like that.

I must be the only one who thinks Routh doesn't look like Christopher Reeve. I think as Superman he sounded like him and in some parts mimiced Reeve's performance as Clark and Superman.
I really liked his Clark. I liked that he wasn't as over the top bumbling like Christopher Reeve. I would have prefered a Clark like Dean Clain played on Lois & Clark.
Other than that I thought he did a good job. I agree that he should have had more dialogue.

Routh did a perfect job with what was required of him. He really pulled it off!  I'd like them to focus a bit more on the mind of Supes in the sequel though. He didn't really seem to be the main character in this film, IMO...if that makes sense? He didn't have lots to say really. I felt like this was more-so Lois Lane and Lex Luther: The Movie in a way. =/

Brandon convinced me that Tom Welling really is This Generations Superman!
Brandon isn't Superman he's not even a good enough Superboy!
