Brave and the Bold Casting Thread

I loved the first It.

It Part Two and The Flash are both decent, but flawed (the latter even more so, some technical aspects are especially baffling).

Muschietti did nail the characterization and portrayal of Michael Keaton's Batman, though.

I can definitely see it. And the idea of Skarsgard doesn't bore me to death as opposed to the other names I've been reading.

Yeah even in a low budget, silly movie like Locked, Skarsgard really stands out and delivers a layered performance.

I doubt I’ll ever sit through that Crow remake though lol. But I don’t blame him for that.

Bill as Joker is so obvious but I really think it needs to happen. His Nosferatu performance was transcendent- one of the most transformative performances I’ve ever seen. I was never a huge fan until I saw that movie. Wow.

I think he’d be a great Batman but his Joker excites me more. He says he already has an idea how he’d play it too..

If he brought his old buddy Skarsgard on board, that would be the only benefit of Muschietti staying on

Absolutely. It’s why guys like Affleck could never pull it off IMO. You need someone who can play an unhinged character. Bale, Pattinson, Keaton can all do that really well.
Skarsgard has been a top choice of mine for precisely that reason.

I'm fine with any of the Skarsgard's showing up in pretty much anything so I'd be down even if it was Stellan.

My only knock with guys like Skarsgard and Peck is that they kinda offer the same flavor as Pattinson. I'm hoping for a choice like Affleck, in the sense that you can put him next to Pattinson and they're very clearly two different types of Batman.

I'm not crazy about the big fan picks, but out of them I would choose Sklenar. While he doesn't look as much like Bruce from the comics as I'd like, I think he could really make up for it with his performance, based on some of the movie clips I've seen.

Bill Skarsgard is a hard pass for me. Interesting suggestion though. Actually, there is one character that he'd be my first choice for...

Sklenar is maybe the most dull, vanilla choice for Batman out there. He's okay. Zero potential to be anything other than Okay as an actor. Just does not have a striking or interesting screen presence. That being said he's exactly the kind of actor I'm expecting.

Lee Pace feels like the ideal, realistic choice. I dunno if Discovery era WB would be okay with casting a gay man as Batman though, legitimately don't trust that this wouldn't be considered a knock against Pace even if Gunn wanted him.

My only concern with Lee Pace is his age, I mean dude's gonna be nearly 50 when this movie finally starts filming. If he can still handle the physical demands of the task and they can keep him for more than 1 movie, then I'm all for it.

- Miles Teller
- Theo James

Hartnett checks all the boxes. Height, star power, look, chops, age, and he’s got a paternal vibe (he has four kids!)

But I do think Pat still has a good shot tbh. Gunn is being cryptic for sure

That's why I keep thinking Powell; I'm not advocating for a modern Adam West Batman but I think Glen Powell can bring something completely different from Pattinson & maybe closer to a Val Kilmer / Batman Forever vibe.

I like Powell but not for Batman. He has shown a lot of range in roles like Hit Man but he feels too “golden boy” to me to be Batman. I see him as a more cocky hero type than a dark brooder.

Pace gives me similar vibes too; though in his case I see him fitting more of a godlike, cosmic kind of hero or villain. Maybe that’s just due to some of his prior roles. But I also think he’s too old at this point anyway. I don’t think you want to go any older than early 40s for Batman.

Sklenar I can’t put a finger on either way. I liked him in Drop but that’s all I’ve seen him in. Didn’t get any Batman vibes there but that’s okay. He’s good looking and charming but I would have to see him in something more dynamic to get me on board.

The last thing I want is any actor that reminds me of Affleck in the role. I might hate his Batman above all. Totally out of his depth in those awful movies. No wonder he was drunk the whole time.

Boo! Affleck is way more interesting than Sklenar or Powell! He’s only traditionally ‘good’ in BvS because it’s the only one where he’s excited to be there, but I think there is a real sorrow and depth to him that makes a lot of truly garbage Terrio writing almost work. Plus, he’s wonderful with Irons.

Affleck isn’t as good in the suit as out of it though. He got turbo****ed by that abominable voice changer - my least favourite live action Batman voice because of it.

Sure, Affleck was let down by horrible writing, but he still had 4 shots at the role and never left a great impression with audiences.

Bale, Keaton, West, and Pattinson are the best Batmen IMO. Kilmer and Affleck are pretty much tied for second to last, with Clooney easily being our worst Batman yet. I don’t think any of our Batmen are bad actors and they could all do a great job with different material. Clooney and Affleck could’ve been great Batmen and look like they are ripped straight out of the comics but they’re two of the worst.
