Brave and the Bold Casting Thread

Hard to see that and think he wouldn't be able to play the role for the next 10 years.

Also, with Foundation slated for multiple seasons (whether that comes to fruition or not is anyone's guess), Pace will be expected to maintain that level of fitness for at least another few years. Point being, that should quell anyone's concerns about his ability to get back into shape if Gunn comes a-knocking.

I just noticed the Mr. Terrific actor is 44 as well, and being that Mr. Terrific is one of Gunn's favorite characters and one of the first he teased I think it's safe to say that character will probably be a recurring part of his 10 year plan DCU. So between that and the Guy Gardner casting we have some good signs for those of us that want BatPace.

I saw it this morning and Finn Wittrock might very comfortable be in Top 3 worst Batman fancasts.

Well if Gunn doesn't mind having a Guy Gardner that's a full 22 years older than Superman maybe he won't mind having a Batman in his 40s after all.

Something I love about Lee too is that he has these insanely piercing eyes that I think would serve him extremely well in the cowl. We've seen how important the eyes can be with both Keaton and Pattinson, and Lee definitely has that.

There's also kind of a vulnerability to them that could serve /extremely/ well for those father-son scenes with Damian and the rest of the Bat-Family. In Halt and Catch Fire there were a lot of scenes of Joe straight up being a prick that revealed a bit more of his character purely because of how vulnerable his eyes seemed all of a sudden.

Batman or Luthor.
If there wasn't going to be a new Batman in the DCU I'd be all in for him as Luthor but since they're casting a Batman for the DCU then I can't get behind it :hehe:

Luthor I think they can find many other actors that'd be able to do an interesting or compelling take on him, but for the specific take on Batman they seem to be going I don't think they'll find someone better.

Also based on Gunn's reported shortlist for Luthor and the All-Star inspiration I do think there's an argument to be made that Lee would be a little bit /too/ cool for that take on Luthor. Luthor in All-Star is supposed to be a mega genius and in great physical shape but he also reads as having this slight sense of being kinda pathetic/obnoxious that'd be better sold by other actors, like Alexander Skarsgaard. There is a place for a more suave/charismatic Luthor, but it doesn't strike me that Gunn is going for that take in particular. (And it'd be a crime to make Lee bald)

He's very Bruce Waynely. Besides him and Ethan Peck the only one I can think of that I like very much is Benjamin Walker.

His age is genuinely my only issue tbh

By the time Brave and the Bold comes out, he's gonna be like 50. While he'd still be fine at his current age, you only have to compare Keanu Reeves' movements in JW1 vs JW4 to see just how much that "old person" style movement tends to settle in for people. I could live with it if he gets cast, obviously. He'd be such a solid choice that I'd just roll with it if that's who they went with. And could he pull a Tom Cruise with his athleticism? Sure. But I'd still rather go with someone who's gonna turn 40 by the time Brave and the Bold comes out, personally.

Well, he could always use a stunt double.

Idk man, even with how Keanu walks you can just kinda see it. It's hard to describe, but it is there. And it's a bit hard to imagine someone doing that in a batsuit and it not looking silly.

As I said, if he does get cast, I'll roll with it, he seems like a great pick. But I'd rather they went with someone where this wasn't a risk, I'll be honest

Keanu walks/runs like he has to take a **** in that film, you're not wrong. But I feel like he was doing that in all of em anyway, but I digress lol

But I'm kinda in between on it. Pace would be a pretty cool pick, but I wouldn't be too upset if he didn't get it either. The whole age thing feels tricky though. If they cast a 50 year old or a 38 year old, they can make it work within the fictional world. But will they themselves be up for the task for 10 years? Depends on the person. I think Pace could even as the older example.
