Brave and the Bold Casting Thread

If he sticks around as director, I'll be surprised. I thought he'd be there rain or shine until I saw just how badly Flash has blown up for them. I'm betting on creative differences and a return to smaller horror. The biggest challenge in getting anyone to sign on, I'd argue, is - if this goes right and Universal doesn't buy WB and restart in five years - they're signing a ten year commitment. One that might span movie, TV shows, video games, and animated projects. That's no small ask for anyone and is likely to turn off a whole lot of notable names.
The good thing is there are barely any notable names that'd be great for this either way so we're kinda in the clear when it comes to that. But yeah, the commitment probably rules out Gosling and Hartnett, which is no big loss in my opinion.

menacing eyebrows
:funny:

Menacing is the last thing I’d call Lee Pace’s eyebrows. He is not menacing looking in the slightest and neither are his eyebrows lol. What a weird thing to say. Being tall and in shape don’t make someone automatically come across tough or menacing. He comes across as neither.

Incorrect again. But do go on. Whatever makes you feel better. :o

The only thing that will make me feel better is if Gunn casts an actor that isn’t Lee Pace for Batman. That’s just bad casting. I’ve decided I’m firmly on board for Gyllenhaal. I’d even take a mostly tv actor like Ackles over Pace. At least he came across as intimidating and tough in Supernatural. Pace just doesn’t feel like a badass in anything I’ve seen him in. That includes H&CF, The Fall, GOTG, Hobbit, Lincoln, and his performance in Foundation is literally just his Ronan with no makeup…amazing range…he is a little boring at times as an actor in lead roles. I think he is better served in supporting roles and from what I’ve seen he would not be believable as a crime fighting badass.

Yeah it'd be toootally unbelievable to see this wimp playing a crime-fighting badass. Could never be able to suspend my disbelief. :o

…Don’t see it even a little bit with this guy. Doesn’t come across as a tough badass at all despite being in shape. Pace always looks a little goofy to me, especially in that second gif that you posted to illustrate your failed point. Visually he does not work for Batman, that chin is pure Joker. Gyllenhaal is the superior pick.

Creative Differences by Christmas!

I mean, he’s not a stereotypical square jawed tough guy but he’s a **** of a lot more intimidating than someone like Hartnett and honestly Ackles as well, who is more of a traditional tough guy but in a way that makes him feel like a wonky Batman pick.

It literally feels like we’re talking about two different actors. The Lee Pace you describe doesn’t even sound like the actor I’ve been watching for decades at this point.

But Sword, that's how Bruce was drawn as a non-descript comic character for so long! How can we ever add actual character to his look? :o

That face is just not a Batman face , I will never see it. How can you possibly look at this man and think Batman?

All those men were engaging lead actors that have an intensity behind the eyes Pace lacks. I don’t think he will be cast anyways, I just don’t see it happening. The casting in Legacy has been so good so far I don’t see him fumbling the casting of the greatest DC character by going with a C lister dud like Pace. They’ll likely want to go with someone that has more name and face recognition that can get people excited. Pace has been on the scene for a long time and just hasn’t made much of a splash. He’s not a dynamic lead actor and is best in supporting roles. You can’t hand him the crown jewel of the DCU. He doesn’t have what it takes to be one of the central figures in this fledgling universe. They need to be very careful with casting and going with Pace would be reckless and shortsighted. If he was such an engaging actor he should have connected more with general audiences by now and they would be clamoring for him in more lead roles.

I’m not even a fan of Affleck’s Batman but Pace is even a downgrade from him. At least Affleck has charisma. Lee Pace is a serviceable but very boring actor. Affleck’s not a great actor but he’s not boring.

Also Pace doesn’t possess as much range as people claim. His performances in Foundation and GOTG are virtually identical, he just doesn’t have alien makeup for Foundation.

Gyllenhaal is the guy to beat, not Pace.

In what universe is Corenswet a more exciting and interesting actor than Lee Pace?! I like him but come on.

Yep, darkly handsome and aristocratic. Don’t care about anything else really, Bruce Wayne’s design is ultra generic and not hugely interesting or worth being married to.

I like the casting of Corenswet for Superman, he has the look, voice, and chops. I don’t think he’d be a good Batman. Superman is not a hard role to play unless you’re a dreadful actor like Henry Cavill. Not every role has the same requirements, I’m not expecting the same things for casting Superman as I am for Batman.

Batman is more challenging and requires someone more exciting and interesting to watch than Lee Pace. Someone that doesn’t recycle performances like Pace in Foundation and GOTG. I think we have reached the limits of his abilities already but a guy like Gyllenhaal feels like he is just getting started. Gyllenhaal checks all my boxes 100%. If he wants in, it should absolutely be offered to him.

Gives me more of a Batman vibe than Keaton or Clooney do based on pictures.
Yeah, I’m sorry Lazarus you have every right to your opinion but he feels like almost an obvious choice to me. He’s pure Bruce Wayne in Halt and Catch Fire. Not trying to sway you, it’s just funny how it feels like we’re not even talking about the same man.

Talk about cherry picking photos. I really don't want another older Batman paired with a young Superman, but clean shaven in a suit with a scowl, you can't pretend that Pace doesn't fit the classical Bruce Wayne mold:
