Brazilian Soccer Ref Decapitated - [Insert Clever Headline Here]

the ref was only 20 too which is just sad

but why did he stab the player and why does a ref carry a knife

Love the over welding moral superiority pat on the back most are giving themselves in this thread.

"Ohh such brutes glad I have nothing to do with such lowly sports"

Oh bugger off, yes it's a tragedy and horrific buts its also a minority. It's also ****ing brazil a country that is well known for going bat **** over all they're sports

You don't hear story's about this from France, Germany, Denmark, all major football country's

If we were to flip the stereotype in use here all American football fans would be drugged up jocks who had hobbies I'm rape and dog fighting.:whatever:

Or straight up murdering people like our man, Hernandez. Yeah, I'm not quite sure why Nell brought that up here. No one had even mentioned American sports.

The fans dismembered him if that's any indication why he felt the need to be armed... before they disarmed him.

that was truly a terrible, terrible joke.

Haha, well in our defense we do get lambasted for anything ****** that we as America does, so we take whatever wackiness you non-Americans do whenever we can get it. If it did happen here rest assured they'd be calling us out on it, lone random event it may have been. And there are people around the world who do view all American athletes as rapists and thugs, even here.

What is wrong with South American people and their lack of control!? The last story I read was a Latino soccer league ref here in the U.S. murdered violently as well. These kinds of things aren't showing a white person like me I should not be afraid of them.

Is that meant to be a Poe's Law reference?

Not really.

Despite what you hear on Fox News people around the world aren't all running around shouting down with America.

People have opinions (sometimes stupid opinions) but people around the world hold no better or worst views of America than they do of any other country. Go to any nation and you will find people who talk trash about other countries or the people in those countries its not a unique thing.

I'm not trying to start any argument or criticise you Terry but I do notice you seem to have a slight chip on your shoulder about the rest of the world and the U.S.

Have you had some horrible experience overseas or something?

I had to look that one up but I am being completely serious. Most of the encounters I have had with Latinos have not been positive ones. Reading stories of Latino perpetrated violence like these do not bolster a positive impression on me.

Can we acknowledge this is offensively racist or at the very least disturbingly xenophobic? Yes, all South Americans are violent soccer hooligans. You do realize there's many different people from many different walks of life from many different countries in South America, right? No, what I am saying? Of course you don't.

I've had plenty of experience with all kinds of ethnicities. There's at least a few of low character in all of them but I've never seen a consistency that most of any group are worse than the others.

and stuck his head on a stake in the middle of the field.

GoT fans for sure. And this is the country that's supposed to host the next summer Olympic.

EDIT:

Saw the video. Must be Braveheart fans too. :wow:

Maybe it's the area where I live which is concentrated with migrant workers from Mexico and Puerto Rico but the aggression between the two groups is rather pronounced. I have learned to get suspicious of anyone, even Caucasians, that associate with Latinos, Mexicans especially as they have been the most blatantly aggressive people I have observed.

Neither Puerto Rico nor Mexico is in South America. :whatever: Not that it excuses the sweeping generalizations you make about those people either.

No, I don't. But just because soccer hooligans are worse, does that mean we should ignore violence or riots caused by other sports? That's what I got from Nell's post.

Nell's post doesn't make sense in the first place because comparing to how American players are to foreign fans doesn't make sense.

Not to mention there were riots in both San Francisco and Baltimore after the Super Bowl.

To throw her a bone, in Syracuse, everyone is crazy. Crazy isn't mutually exclusive to one race group up there though.

Do thugs have to be mutually exclusive to one sport?

Well, considering that soccer fans routinely act in a "holier than thou, morally superior, God's gift to sports and the world" fashion, you'd think the participants of said sport, and their fanbase, might actually try to set an example.

Not exactly. The soccer game wasn't the casue of the war. The riots just happened to coincide with the war.
