I'm thinkin Gus was behind the call being placed, but the call was placed by the private detective guy.

If it was Gus that warned Hank about the brothers coming, then i wonder what motivation he would have for that move?

Hopes that Hank would see them and then find out who they are or kill them. That way Walt can cook longer than 3 months.

OK, this ep was NUTS.

I was saying all sorts of **** yeahs when Jesse told Walt what was up. Ever since he came into his life, hes lost just about everything and he never respected him as an equal. That was a great performance by Aaron. Really felt for him.

I knew the ep was gonna be crazy right from the get go when Hank laid that beating on Jesse. BRUTAL.

The scene in the elevator and after the doors opened was sad and funny as hell.

Gus most likely had Hank warned so that he could hopefully get rid of the brothers. Probably doesnt trust that the brothers would be satisfied with Hank's death and would eventually come after Walt.

Hank is the ****ing man. Enough said.

I cant believe they showed the back of a guy's head blown off on basic cable. Freaking awesome. Bodes very well for The Walking Dead.

I was expecting something with Hank and the Cousins with some combination of deaths with the three characters but the beat down was a surprise. Then there was the possibility of killing Jesse, I thought that might be teased later in the season not in the middle. That may happen someday in the future because these two have been on and off at each others throats so often it can only get worse for their next breakup.

Dean Norris and Aaron Paul both earned supporting Emmy noms with last night's episode.

As for the final scene could've easily fit in The Walking Dead if the Cousins were zombies. Just picture them as zombies.

Lol, AMC needs to re-hire the Moncada brothers for The Walking Dead.

Yea, absolutely, Dean and Aaron were spectacular. I especially liked his scene with Betsy in their bedroom. Heartbreaking.

Speaking of that scene, remember when Hank said, "It's like the universe is trying to tell me something"?

That something is, "We've got your back".

I mean think about all the things that fell in his favor during the shootout:

1. The one twin deciding to keep firing into the SUV instead of moving out of the way of the car.

2. Dropping his gun into the car after getting smashed.

3. The other twin deciding to get in touch with his sadistic instincts instead of finishing Hank off with his gun.

4. And finally, the freaking bullet he decided to keep in his suit pocket.

The twins moved like they were terminators rather than humans. I wonder if they were slightly too cocky that they had vests on. I mean, there's no way I'd just casually walk and shoot like they did! No waaaay!

The heartbreaking scene was when Hank cried in the lift :(

It's good to see he's letting the wife in.

I love the way Walt put Skylar in her place about Hank not being family anymore! She's always sticking it to him.

If it was Gus that warned Hank about the brothers coming, then i wonder what motivation he would have for that move?

Gus has all the motivation in the world, I think. He described the brothers as "animals", he hates the way they do business. And after so many years of perfectly maintaining his cover, of keeping a safe distance from all the nastiness of the drug world, he has these two murderers showing up daily in his place of work, making threats, throwing their weight around. People like that, you relent a little, and they'll keep coming back, keep making more demands. They were a risk to Gus. So Gus set things up so that hopefully two of his problems (Hank investigating Heisenberg, the brothers challenging his authority) would resolve each other.

I'm so glad the psycho brothers are dead. When Hank slammed his car into reverse and crushed the s*** out of the first one, I actually cheered. I hope Hank manages to survive. I don't think he's fallen quite as far as he possibly can just yet, and this show is about nothing if not examining every grim detail of downward spirals. Everything just keeps getting worse for everybody involved. I love it. :hehe:

As much as I love Hank. I still for the life of me do not understand why Hank does not even suspect Walt at the least!!

Jesse putting Walt in his place was great! I really hope he is he one that gets to put the final bullet in Walts selfish little head.

I love the way Jesse periodically calls Walt a *****!

I'm also a little peeved that the brothers are dead so soon. Or maybe the one that got crushed didn't die...

Well Hank's a mans man. And I'm pretty sure he believes it's a mans world that he lives in. (eg. the mexico incident)

So a quiet, jittery guy like Walt would never be suspected of something that would involve a sinister, clever and dirty player being Heisenberg!

Still, when you consider the unusually high quality of the blue meth, Walt's background in chemistry, and Walt's mysterious connection to Jesse (which Hank already thinks is drug-related), it does seem a bit boneheaded to not suspect Walt at all.

It does now, last season maybe not so much. Hank should be puttin pieces together pretty soon I think.

It's easy for us to connect the dots, but Hank knew Walt before the lung cancer. His mind won't let him see what's right in front of his face because Walt is family, that personal involvement clouds his judgment. It seems ridiculous but if you look at it psychologically, it makes sense why Walt wouldn't even be on his radar.

While I completely agree with you on this you also have to take into effect Hanks training as a DEA agent which I'm sure would be pretty extensive. I think Hank is purely and simply naive, he's seen the signs, its plain as day that he has but he, as you stated, can't let himself see the forest for the trees.

Exactly.

I think Hank knows. He just doesn't know that he knows. If that makes any sense at all.

What, like he suspects that Walt's connection to Jesse may be more than just casual weed purchasing, but he doesn't want to let himself think about it too much because he's so close to Walt?

Yeah, kinda. But I wouldn't even say he so much as suspects. It's almost a subconscious thing. All the funny little looks he's given at moments such as fake Heisenberg's arrest shortly after Walt showed up to distract him, or during Walt's silence on the phone when asking about Jesse. He has all the pieces of the puzzle laid out in front of him, and if he cleared this mental block of his and applied a little Ockham's Razor to the situation, the Unsolvable Mystery that's tormenting him would fall into place very quickly.

Hank is obsessed with finding this guy. If he even suspected Walt, I wouldn't put it past him to tail the guy for a bit.

The fact is, he doesn't. At all.

This show is a slow build series that let's us generally see what people are thinking. There won't be any twist that Hank knew all along or anything like that, we'll see him eventually finally figure it out for himself.

Until then, Walt is clear.

Don't forget about the missing chemistry equipment from the high school. A perfect example of his mind not comprehending the facts is when Walt tells him the exact amount of cash in the duffel bag and he laughs it off, it's just something Hank can't come to terms with at the moment.

I'm not saying he knows or even suspects. Just that, on a subconscious level, he has the knowledge, all the bits of evidence that mount up. But it's that mental block of his relationship with Walt and not being tuned in to viewing him as a suspect that's stopping him from seeing the answer in front of his face.

Yeah, I get that. It's a good explanation too.

Do you think he'll start taking a harder look and piecing it together after last episode? 'Cause, I mean, in the immortal words of Bad Boys: "s*** just got real."
