You think they'd fast track it? What I know is that AMC isn't fast tracking anything. Look at Breaking Bad and taking a year off.

We also have to factor in Rubicon and The Killing in there somewhere. I'd say put Rubicon in with The Walking Dead (before it).
 
They did give the series six episodes before seeing a single second of the show. If it can get 4 million viewers (double Mad Men) I think there is a possibility. Other cable programs split their seasons. Plus AMC owns the show their is no other production company involved so they benefit the most by ad revenue, DVD sales, iTunes and cable subscriptions.

They're delaying Breaking Bad to improve the ratings of the show. The writers have more time to write scripts and revise which should allow for a better product in a less competitive time of year paired with Mad Men. Rubicon has almost lost 50% of its premiere audience after 3 weeks, I don't like the show's chances of coming back for a second season.

What likely will happen is that The Killing will air in March, BB/MM in the summer and TWD would be paired with Hell on Wheels for the fall.
 
Hopefully the show gets a better title but I can see why they used it.

Colm Meaney is set to star opposite Anson Mount in AMC's period drama pilot Hell on Wheels. The Endemol USA/Entertainment One-produced Western centers on Cullen (Mount), a former Confederate soldier tracking down the Union soldiers who killed his wife who winds up working on the Nebraska prairie's Hell on Wheels' portion of the transcontinental railroad. Meaney will play Thomas "Doc" Durant, a businessman determined to make his fortune building the transcontinental railroad, a man of vision and a self-serving opportunist who is capable of "creative financing." Meaney joins previously cast Mount, Dominique McElligott and rapper-actor Common. Meaney, most recently seen in Get Him to the Greek, is repped by Innovative and manager Rick Ax.

Anson Mount has landed the lead in AMC's period drama pilot Hell on Wheels. Meanwhile, Irish actress Dominique McElligott has been cast as the female lead in the Western, set during the building of the Transcontinental Railroad. The project centers on Cullen (Mount), a former slave owner and a Confederate soldier determined to avenge the rape/murder of his beloved wife by tracking and killing the Union soldiers who killed her. Fearless, Cullen winds up working on the Nebraska prairie's Hell on Wheels' portion of the transcontinental railroad. McElligott will play Lily Bell, an intelligent woman taking care of her ill husband who is part of the team of surveyors mapping the railroad's course. In the pilot, Mount and McElligott join recently cast rapper-actor Common.

Recently I had the pleasure of watching the entire current run of Breaking Bad, and well, it's ruined television for me.

Nothing compares. Everything about this show, specifically the editing, the humor, the atmosphere, oh god Bryan Cranston....everything, it goes to show that Breaking Bad is a perfect show.

It's so satisfying to continue to watch, because it only gets better and better.

The writing is legendary, I mean the characters on this show: "Heisenberg" is an immortal badass, Jesse is responsible for one of the greatest line's in television...."...a robot?", Saul Goodman a.ka. Jesus, I could go on and on.

God damn I love this show.
 
I also watched the whole series from beginning to end. For the first time. I love this show.

One thing I'd like to bring up... I've never seen flashbacks done so well. The characters actually look twenty years younger (as opposed to other inferior shows where they just give the characters a hair-piece or glop on make-up or stick them in embarrasing 80's clothes). What kind of computer technology are they using? It's as good or better as the opening scene from X-Men 3. Bryan Cranston really looks like a man in his 20's and 30's when they do those scenes.

I don't think they're using computer effects. Just damn good make-up.
 
also, the difference in age seems more drastic because it looks like they make cranston look a bit older than he is on the show, especially since his character has cancer, so coupled with good makeup and the fact he probably looks younger in real life, the difference yields something entirely believable.
 
Not to mention the most important factor; he acts noticably different. His mannerisms, energy, and even posture were tweaked. The two I can remember offhand were the one with his original girlfriend in the classroom and then he and Sky buying the house. Not to mention the awesome twins flashback where Darren Aronofsky's what's his face guy in the wheelchair is full functioning.

In other shows full of flashbacks, *cough*LOST*cough* the only reason you can tell it's a different time and place is because the narrative tells us so. Hats off to Breaking Bad for showing at least some of the world what quality tv can actually be.

Man, "Uncle Theo" really had no cgi? Just make-up? I find that hard to believe because he looks younger in that flashback than he did in Requiem and that was made a decade ago.

Yeah, all they did with Jack was give him a different hair-cut. Pretty sloppy. It really took you out of the scene when flashback-Jack looked the same as current-Jack. All shows should put as much effort into flashbacks as Breaking Bad obviously does.
 
Breaking Bad just plain rocks though, everything it does is perfect IMO.
 
I'm personally unaware if CGI is used or not; it wouldn't surprise me given that the violence gets digital help. Regardless, I think the most important part of the younger and older versions of their characters relies on the acting and not the makeup- be it practical or digital. Either way, it all comes together for a perfect whole.

There's a few series that I like a little more (Rome, Spartacus) and at least one that I can call better (The Wire), but no show is so consistantly perfect with EVERY EPISODE as Breaking Bad. Watch them all at once, or one at a time, in order or out, and you are gaurenteed perfection. As far as I can remember there's not a single dud in the entire series.
 
Breaking Bad and The Shield are my favourite TV shows EVER.
 
Its basic cable on AMC, they don't have the budget to make Cranston looks younger via CGI. The glasses, the mustache, the haircut, the wardrobe, the acting all made him look older.

Man, sometimes I just can't believe this is the same guy who played the Dad, Hal, on 'Malcolm in the Middle.' Cranston has unbelieveable range.
 
I love this show so much, the opening teaser to the pilot is hands down one of my favorite openings of all time. I was hooked by the end of the second episode, hydrofluoric acid is awesome.
 
I finally watched all the seasons. Its a very good show. A little heavy to watch. Seriously I feel sad after watching it :(. But it's good. I dont think that season 3 was as good as the first 2, especially season 1.
 
When are we back on the air guys? Not until late next year, yeah?
 
Why is that? Did they give a reason? I see Cranston has some movie roles lined up. Is that it?
