Hmm. Honestly I thought the voice sounded like Gus, but if it wasn't him, no worries. The essence of the scene still plays out nicely.

Yes, but the characters are degrading to the point of, well, breaking.

The first scene of Thirty-Eight Snub shows Walt buying the gun for "protection," or rather, to just outright murder Gus. When Jesse shot Tuco, and they had the opportunity to just get rid of him, Walt just says, "let him bleed." Now Walt is willing to kill even relatively harmless people to save his own life, without remorse, and he's got what, at least two more years to live himself?
What was that quote from the first season episode "...And the Bag's in the River"?
"The soul? There's nothing but chemistry here..."

Walt keeps Jesse from killing or most likely getting killed by those two gangsters in Half Measures. Those two were murderers. And then Jesse, to return the favor and save Walt's life, has to kill poor Gale. Would it have been better for Jesse to have been killed initially, than now having to live with what he has done?

This season has the opportunity and possibility of taking everything to its most extreme.

Yes. This is something I've been thinking about alot. Walt's actions have become less and less justifiable as the show has gone, something interesting to me is that last season Walt would never admit that he had outright murdered anybody because he rationalizes "Okay he was a drug dealer, so thats okay." But each season sees him commit a more heinous act than the last (i.e. Ordering Gale's death is worse than accidentally killing Jane) as well as his actions starting affect those around him more and more (Skylar's starting to become a criminal, Hank is emasculated and he has unwittingly driven Jesse off the wagon twice) each season. I'm wondering when we'll see Walt cross the line fully by say pulling the trigger himself to kill a completely innocent person or maybe even having to order the death of somebody close to him (i.e. Hank or Jesse) to protect his operation.

What I really want to see this season is Hank at least coming tantalizingly close to finding out who "Heizenberg" really is, what he does with that knowledge and what Walt might have to do as a result.

I decided to check this out a couple weeks ago mostly because of word of mouth and let me say this show is fantastic. Bryan Cranston is remarkable as Walt, I' remember Bryan as Jerry's dentist on Seinfeld and to see him as Walt is like WOW!!! Where did this come from? As far as whats going on in the show Skylar has got hell of a lot interesting since she accepted Walt as he is.

Welcome to the show!
I first remember Bryan Cranston from Malcolm in the Middle, one of my favorite shows ever..... the change in character is so unbelievably drastic I was so gobsmacked out my existential condition that I could not believe it was the same actor.

I started watching Breaking Bad online, because I heard it was great and I was looking for some good shows to placate my LOST withdrawal, and I wasn't aware of who the actors were on the show at all and dove in cold turkey....and was thinking through that first episode, "That guy sure looks familiar, like the dad from Malcolm in the Middle." Looked it up online and :wow:.

That would be one possibility for Walt's eventual destiny.
I think that eventually his family is going to pay the ultimate price with their lives for what Walt ends up doing.
Then we are going to see the real Heisenberg emerge from the depths and shadows of Walt's degraded soul, and finally turn evil and dispose of all his enemies without an ounce of mercy, without excuse.

Heh, Crimson, I got into this show because of the gaping hole LOST left as well.

Solid episode. Everything is being set up, but man, I feel like the **** is about to get real, very fast. Jesse's condition is ****ed at the current moment. Aaron Paul is such an utterly convincing actor, his eyes while driving that go-cart, wow.:csad:

Steer clear of chain wall fences people.

lmao yeah, even though I feel so bad for Jesse he still had one of the funniest moments in the episodes hahah. "Yeah, b**ch!" lol ah, the little victories.

Such an awesome episode, after all the serious biz what a relief.

Very good episode and I am now convinced if Skylar was involved early on they would of been better at selling meth. She is one savy business woman, that environmental ploy was brilliant. Even though Gus wasn't in the episode his presence looms over like a black cloud over Walt's head. Jesse he just doesn't give a f*** any more his house was looking like that dope house Walt got him out of in season 3.

Breaking Bad has the best sense of humor. Jesse has the greatest line in tv as far as I'm concerned back from season 2, "...a robot?"

Also, I think it's pretty convincing now that Marie is either going to snap or leave Hank completely.

So, about the ending.

Anyone else looking forward to Hank asking Walt about what all the scientific formulas mean? hahah that'd be so awesome.

^That would be great!

Not one of the best episodes, but I'm glad to see one focus on Skylar and Marie.

I think Walt is going to go to the police sooner or later and possibly become some kind informant. They hinted at it in Full measure and I believe every episode of the season thus far. Could be misdirection by the writers, but we'll see.

I don't think he's going to the cops, he'd loose everything he's worked for. What I think he'll do is employ one simple strategy. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and his enemy Gus has an enemy in the Cartel. Gus is watching him like a hawk but he wasn't watching Skylar as closely and if she can sneak across the border into Mexico, Gus will pay.

Yeah, they showed Gus cleaning out the Cartel for a reason.

I'm curious as to where Mike's loyalty will fall. He slapped up Walt, but he's still feeling the pressure from Gus. I hope we get another 'lesson in badass' from Mike, too.

That is only one guy in the Cartel, so there aren't anymore? I was under the assumption the Cartel was still a problem for Gus. He mentioned in a episode that they were testing him by capturing his chemical guy.

Completely random question, was the woman who plays Skylar actually pregnant because she definitely looks like a newly recovering mother with her chubby cheeks and all.

Sauls "You took a run at this Bogdan character and he wrestled you into submission with his eyebrows" line was fantastic. I couldn't stop laughing after he said it.

I love Saul and I think Bob Odenkirk is fantastic in the part. He just plays him as a straight up total sleazebag that nobody can quite take seriously and its absolutely hilarious.

good episode for the most part. not sure how i feel though. I know it's the fourth season, but seems like a bit of a drastic shift for everyone to delve so deeply into evil right now. That last scene with the wine felt odd almost super villainish. It kind of feels like everyone has gone completely off the deep end. no one seems to care about even pretending to be good people. I almost feel like they could pull one over us and just end the show this season without letting us know in advance.

Wasn't that what the whole wine-drinking scene was about?

Another great slow-burn episode. I'd like to see more Jesse though. I get the feeling he's got some intense moments coming once he finally breaks.

Also want to see Gus, but might have to wait. Can't wait for next Sunday.

Also, AMC is being completely moronic potentially throwing away the fifth and final season of Breaking Bad because they want to trim it down to afford Mad Men. Ridiculous.

Absolute lunacy. I hope Gilligan 'breaks bad' all over their faces during the negotiations.

Doesn't make any sense. Isn't the show receiving the highest ratings yet? Critically acclaimed, Emmy winning, and still AMC is acting amateurish about this.

If this is true, no wonder Darabont left The Walking Dead.

What do you mean by throwing away? Like theyre planning to cancel the series after this season?

Skyler is gonna make Carmela Soprano and Nancy Botwin look like Martha Stewart and Rachel Ray

first three episodes, while enjoyable, have really simply set the stage for the new season. it's similar to the first 4 or so episodes of last season, though i am enjoying this season even more.

there's little doubt season 4 will end up the best season of breaking bad. it needs to win the emmy for best drama, damnit.
