Brexit

I was shocked Jeremy Clarkson wanted to remain. Clarkson has been heavily critical or Europe for years and is the living embodiment of little England yet even he wanted to remain.
Clarkson is definitely a loudmouthed bastard at times but he's not stupid. He knows as much as he dislikes the EU the alternative (Brexit) is an even worse alternative. Much like the US has in Trump (Brexit) or Hillary (staying the course). The choices may not be great but when one promises to ruin you absolutely your only alternative is to go with the one that merely maims you.

Hours After Brexit Vote, Leader of "Leave" Movement Admits One Major Promise Was a Sham

One of the central claims made by supporters of the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union was that £350 million per week that the nation was sending to the EU would instead be put toward the National Health Service. On Good Morning Britain today, UK Independence Party Leader Nigel Farage said that claim is untrue.

When asked about the claim, Farage—one of the country’s most visible advocates for leaving the EU—countered that he specifically never made it, despite Leave campaigners having driven a tour bus with the £350 million figure on its side across the country. The clip is astounding to watch, and would be completely infuriating if it weren’t for the dressing-down GBP anchor Susanna Reid gave him over his dodginess.

“You’re saying, after 17 million people have voted for Leave—I don’t know how many people voted on the basis of that advert, but that was a huge part of the propaganda—you’re now saying that’s a mistake?” she asked Farage.

Guess so! Sorry, everyone.

So politicians are basically the same across the pond eh? Good to know.

EDIT: for the new page

Nothing new there. As much as some people love to bag on US politicians it has always been true that politicians everywhere are universally self-absorbed and willing to do whatever they feel is going to get them votes, even if it comes to outright lying.

It's a bitter pill to swallow when so many people in England were mocking the US for its political shenannigans that their own people and politicians just sank their country.

Future arguments: "Break up the United States! Down with free trade and travel between the states! Build a wall around every state! Balkanization now, balkanization forever!"

My thoughts didn't count for anything being a U.S. citizen but I was glad to see when Scotland voted to stay with the U.K. years ago. Direct democracy can be dangerous. Now I wonder what they are going to vote.

If Brexit leaves the EU unable to provide for its other states, would these other states be more likely to exit as well?
Parts of eastern Europe are going to be mad because they will be getting less development money with the UK leaving the eu I imagine.

dedicating this one to all our uk friends, especially those just entering the job market, whose lives will be negatively impacted by yesterday's outcome. joe strummer, prophet.

My social media feed today's top two trending topics were Brexit and Keri Hilton deepthroating a popsicle on Instagram. Either way, somebody got the shaft.

What does this mean for the resettlement programs the EU had been spearheading for the refugees?

What does this mean for the resettlement programs the EU had been spearheading for the refugees?

I wonder how long the EU can continue to take in refugees in such large numbers?

There is already some growing backlash against taking in so many refugees in Germany. National Front have been slowly growing in France. Southern European countries are struggling as well. Central and Eastern Europe isn't the most refugee friendly region.

None of you seem too familiar with trading or the markets. I did some light bargain hunting today on TD Ameritrade. I'm keeping an eye for the next week too. Specifically Monday and some more EU reactions and some possible emergency referendum talks.

The market will bounce back. Investors are overreacting (something many have admitted throughout the day). Not to mention there is just at a $4 - $8 dollar drop on major stocks. We've seen worst when it comes to individual indexes.

This is a great day all around. Loving it. :)

Anyone who is panic selling will regret that decision. I guarantee it.

After Brexit, what? U.S. secessionists hankering for 'Texit'
Emboldened by Brexit, U.S. secessionists in Texas are keen to adopt the campaign tactics used to sway the British vote for leaving the European Union and are demanding "Texit" comes next.

The citizen-driven vote in Britain can be a model for Texas, which was an independent country from 1836 to 1845, and its $1.6 trillion a year economy would be among the 10 largest in the world, said Daniel Miller, president of the Texas Nationalist Movement.

"The Texas Nationalist Movement is formally calling on the Texas governor to support a similar vote for Texans," the group said on Friday. The office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott was not immediately available for comment.

The group, which claims about a quarter million supporters, failed earlier this year to place a vote on secession on the November ballot but aims to relaunch its campaign for the next election cycle in 2018, buoyed by the British vote, Miller said.

"Texit is in the air," he said.

Texit, for Texas exit, is a play on the British exit, or Brexit, and was trending on Twitter in the United States on Friday.

"Yee-haw! #Brexit shows how to get it done. Now we need a #Texit," tweeted user Phillip Paulson (@PaulsonPhillip).

aaannnnd the crazy begins....:funny:

The big winners from the Brexit vote are of course terrorists.
Fear of refugees did a few things in their favor.

1. terrorists have always told the other non militant Muslims that they will never be accepted by the infidels. This validates that sentiment

2. terrorists want to harm you in any way they can. A lot of money and jobs will be lost. There will be discord among the population because people will resent those who voted for the exit and it caused them to lose their job and savings.

3. they got a huge boost to their confidence that they can exact political change via their methods. They haven't had a win this big since 9/11.
