Brexit

Impeding labor is one thing. That is an economic concern. The idiots on social media talking about their right to see the world and have life experiences are saying something totally different though. Damn kids.

I picture you waving your cane in the air right now.

This is an object lesson in why you get off your ass and vote, even if you think your side has it in the bag.
All those young people that didn't vote but complained about the result need to ****. If you can't get off your ass to vote then you deserve what you get.

I saw some youngsters saying they didn't advertise the vote on the internet enough so they didn't pay attention :loco:
What if Scotland and London form their own combined nation-state? They can be Greatest Britain while the remainder gets to be known as Max Mad Fury Road.

Plenty of northern Englanders hate London so most us would be happy to see the back of them. They resent our city even though our taxes subsidies their existence.

I have a couple of school friends who have been campaigning for Leave and today were told their jobs are at risk. Will be very bad for the financial sector and the City and affiliated institutions make up such a disproportionate part of UK tax revenue that it will affect the whole country. The Leave debate has been all about immigration without as much consideration of economy and jobs.

Hahahahahahahaha.

*deep breath*

Hahahahahahahaha.

That's so sad. The economic well-being of the country hangs in the balance and people don't know what the EU is?

This is why referendums are bad!

But..at least the UK is safe from the Muslim population growing 3 percent in the next 20 years. :mnm:

They might've took over the entire country. :loco:

The problem is that immigrants steal all the jobs, while all claiming benefits, simultaneously! :woot:

Well this is mindset of many in the North East about immigrants.

If there was a Frexit the whole thing would be over.

I seriously doubt it would gain traction. Probably just this one that has their blood up.

Instead of resigning and running away like Cameron did, some UK politicians need to take one for the team and use the fact that Brexit is not legally binding to disregard this referendum, instead of plunging Britain and Europe by extension into economic upheaval and returning Britain to a totally unfeasible state of isolationism on the whims of a bunch of technologically illiterate old people who won't have to live with the long-term ramifications of this decision and who have to Google what the EU is.

This is why direct democracy is absurd.

Also, there is just as much entitlement among old people as there is among millennials.

Let it be a warning.

Get out and vote in November, folks.

Absolutely. Young people who statistically geared toward anti-Brexit didn't go out and vote, even though they're the ones who are gonna be living with long-term ramifications of this decision.

I'm starting to wonder if direct democracy that impacts the global economy should be outlawed.

If you're not an economist, let the pros handle it.

There's a person on my FB feed who's been on a "Bernie-or-NOTHING" rant for months now. When people reminded him of the possibility of Trump, he said that would be his only other alternative because Trump will burn everything down so we can start over and that would be a good thing.

Well, this is how it looks. He's been awfully quiet today.

I think a lot of people are just disenfranchised with voting because no matter who you vote for the odds are always in favor of the incumbents, with power or with those with the influence to prevent someone who actually is threatening change from initating it. Though ironically in this case the change was a reversal to pre-EU era Britain which is not going over too well with anyone.

Look at what happened with Obama. Whether you agreed with his politics or not the establishment (primarily Republicans) literally shut down the government instead of compromise or accept the changes. And when the changes do manage somehow to get approved they delay and contest them every inch of the way.

It has an effect of deterring people from caring because it feels and looks like nothing you voted for is going to happen. Unless you're voting to keep time frozen in which case you are probably one of those people happy with the stalling of progress.

Since Scotland mostly voted in favor of Remain, will it hold another independence referendum at some point and, if successful, rejoin the EU?

Financial Times UK has a great piece on Brexit

There are parts of this country in which if people see a couple brown people they start ranting about we are being taking over by immigrants :loco:

Censuses show the vast majority of the UK was still white British and that wouldn't change for a long time.
