The EU is a threat to Russia's power and influence. Part of the reason the Ukrainian Civil War happened is because the western half of the country was pro-EU and wanted closer ties to the EU rather than Russia.

Voting to leave the EU for reasons of wanting to step away from a German-led state has been overshadowed by a paranoia/hysteria about a sudden uprise of racism and 'kicking the immigrants out'. Now people are being made to feel guilty for having their own reasons for saying leave.

It saddens me that both sides of the argument have been so emotive and manipulative. Extreme views on both sides and no one speaking rationally.

I think we can get through this without the dramas. A friend of mine is working in Asia at the moment and his sister posted on his Facebook about how the UK is 'like 1930s Nazi Germany' right now. I can't believe how absurd some people are behaving, it's absolutely not like that at all. When I woke up on Friday it felt no different to Thursday.

The best thing about his speech is the guy on the right. Don't know if it's visible in that video but he facepalms hard then tries to cover his face for quite a while, thinks he's ok then starts laughing and covers his face again.

The media will of course turn every molehill into a mountain regardless of topic. Which also makes it difficult to know when things are actually different. I think there's a noticeable spike (a few people I know have mentioned witnessing minor incidents in the last couple of days) but we're still talking something like 1 in 1,000 people directly affected or something very obscure like that. Of course for those who haven't experienced anything like that in their life it will be a big deal.

As for the vote, I voted Remain but the rules of the vote were set beforehand and that's what we have to go with. I was a bit annoyed about the Leave side pushing for a 2nd vote in the case of a close vote (if they lost) but the same applies here. If we lose by 1 vote out of 30m, it's the effectively the same end result as if it had been a landslide. There should be no 2nd referendum. Hopefully this is an education to people to vote, to not waste their vote, to research the issues at hand and also to not think their vote doesn't matter. A protest vote is ok as long as you are happy for whatever you are actually (protest-)voting for to happen!

British police have launched an investigation after a group of teenagers were caught on film hurling racist abuse at a passenger on a tram in Manchester city centre.

In the video, three young men who appear to be drinking from bottles of beer can be seen shouting at a man to “get back to Africa” and “f*****g get off the tram now”.

Manchester Evening News reports that the tram was travelling from Shudehill to Market Street at 7.40am this morning, and that the man had asked the teenagers to stop swearing as they were upsetting other passengers.

The Government and the British government are set to discuss the fallout from the Brexit vote for the first time tomorrow.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan and Northern Ireland Secretary Theresa Villiers will talk about the impact of the referendum on cross-border relations when they meet in Belfast.

In the wake of the Brexit vote, French leaders appear to be infused with a quixotic belief that they can save Europe.
