I've never read the book and the trailer is doing nothing for me.

The film is being misrepresented by the trailers. It is not a fantasy action film, but more like a children's dark drama. Very subtle...I highly suggest you go tzarinna.

The undertone of the movie is that, generally? Life is really, really tough, and that it's hard to handle sometimes, and that you need help every once in a while to deal. And then, of course, the 'twist' adds in a whole other level of dark.

I saw it today,never read the book and really have no background on it besides this and another thread.
So anyway,I'm not sure what era this was suppose to be filmed in but I'm assuming 80's cause it had that feel as well and the film it was shot in.
The opening credits were pretty cool and still left me a bit confused as to what to expect. This turned out to be such a darling film. Nothing was over the top and that little boy looks just like Michael J. Fox,when MJF was a little chunky. recious:Such a great story of friendship and child hood innocence.

I saw this today on pay per view today and Im surprised, it was pretty good. The effects are bad but the story is really nice...its a coming of age story...and it so sad that [blackout]Leslie actually dies..I didn't see that coming [/blackout]
