I thought you said you'll pass?
I'm not much into musicals. I'd only see this for Lewis and the attractive women.
I have 8 1/2 on my DVR so I'll get to it eventually. Dark, if you have TCM, it shows up on there now and again. It's a great channel to watch essentials.
From the trailers all his performance in that movie is is SHOUTING WORDS VERY LOUDLY!!!
Not suprising that it's coming from someone who likes the Twilight franchise.![]()
Kidman is the weakest without a doubt, but that's no shocker.
^Exactly. I  her in Almost Famous.I think Hudson can act, Almost Famous showed it, it's just her choice of films, more so her continuous roles in tedious romantic comedies, is what hurts her.
Considering which song from the show she's supposed to sing and compared to the rest of the actors in the movie, she's a disappointment. Especially considering they had a male singer sing a bonus track of it and totally blow her out of the water. Is Nicole bad? I thought she was excellent in Moulin Rouge and she sounded fine in that clip.

She's too soft and breathy for the song it is.
Sorry, but not at all. But then again they both have different styles of voices, and Hudson is by far a stronger singer.Perhaps. I never heard the original show or watched it. But in honest comparison, Kidman is a better singer than Hudson, but I suppose Hudson got the easier, flashier song.
Nah, I don't really get into the whole "They're totally wrong for the part because they have the wrong voice" thing. The only things with Depp and Carter for me was I had never heard them sing before, so I didn't really know how I felt about it; I trusted them on delivering their roles acting-wise.I hope it is a case of everyone hating Johnny Depp's voice as Sweeney Todd and Helena Bonham-Carter as Mrs. Lovett who had seen the original show or any production of it (especially if they had heard Len Cariou and Angela Lansbury in the roles) and then they're so good in Burton's film nobody cared. However, Marshall seems to be much more of a glitzy director than Burton, if that's possible, and less concerned with internal performance, so I don't know if that could be pulled off with this one, therefore.
