British R&B

A lot of people don't really care for the R&B scene these days particularly here in the states, but what's everyone's opinion on R&B done by british singers?

To me, some of best R&B songs I've heard have been from british artists; even some I remember liking as a kid.

Britain has an R&B scene still?

apart from Jay Sean, Lemar and a few retro pop/R&B acts like Joss Stone, Winehouse and Duffy I don't think there really is a R&B scene in the UK. Nothing like it was in the 80s and 90s anyway with people like GABRIELLE, Micha Paris, Eternal ect.

And all the good R&B singers now are not only british, but white. So it's a double whammy. My mom heard a song on the radio the other by that one chick named Adele (got some thickness on her), and I showed her a picture and she was like, "she WHITE?!" "And from England," I said.

I found Adele's album to be a little boring, but she's definitely talented.

I'm a huge Joss Stone fan, too. Her "Introducing..." album was on, but I also dug her prior retro-like album, and her debut album of cover songs.

Well Adele has some black in her (she has a preference for black guys)

Not only that but all the British singers these days all went to the same stage school (Brits School)

Adele, Lilly Allen, Nate Nash, The Kooks, Leona Lewis, Katie Melua, Imogen Heap, Lynden David Hall, The Feeling, Floetry, list goes on......
