I just saw this tonight and was very impressed, It balances all it's genres and ideas really well into a cohesive and gripping movie. Christophe Gans really created a fantastic atmosphere.

Did anyone else think that the animal Jean-Francois brought back that was turned into the beast, was a Lion ?

Also what was with his arm ? That was the only part i was unsure of.

this movie is badass i remember watching it about 5-6 years ago when it first came out it actually took me a couple times to make it all the way through but once i did i freakin loved it

Cohesive? Well I can't dispute your perception of the movie, but personally I thought that it got a bit derailed somewhere in the middle when the story shifted away from its based-on-fact elements. Even still, I do like this movie. An added bonus was when I tried listening to the English dub and it was actually tolerable! :woot:

And Dan Laustsen too I'd say. He was cinematographer also on Mimic and Silent Hill, both movies bearing similarly spooky imagery. :cwink:

Heh. :D Well by cohesive i meant the way the genre's meshed without a jarring effect, it never felt like one aspect overshadowed the other for me. I did read up on the actual history after i watched the movie, i have to say that the creative liberties taken were quite well done IMO.

Yes, very true, ive not seen the two movies you mention but ive got Silent Hill there to watch.

I"m glad you finally got to see this Hunter. This movie is one of my favorites, I remember buying it years ago, but also be skeptic of because of the dubbed voices. Normally that would bother me, but I actually turned out loving this movie, and it's now in my top 10.

The Beast, turned out to be a cool idea, from what I was expecting it to be....(not trying to give anything away):o

I'm a lil foggy on the details because it's been so long since I watched it, but what I do remember is that I liked it. :)

Its been a while since I saw it, but I thought it was a gash mishmash of pap that was less than the sum of its parts.

I loved this movie.

It was good to finally see a movie inspired by the story/legends of The Beast of Gevaudan.
