Bryan Singer to direct '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea'

He might not direct the next movie. He might just produce it, maybe help out with the story a bit (like he did with FC). Anyway I'm fine with this. Singer is a good director. I kind of look at this the same way that I looked at James Mangold taking over The Wolverine from Darren Aranofsky. Maybe not as "inspired," outside the box choice, but still a pretty damn good replacement.

I think Fox bought the rights back..or it's just public domain (which it should be by now.)

Well they have two different versions of The Jungle Book coming out next years (by different studios) and they had two different Snow White adaptations come out the same year awhile back.

I didn't think Singer would be involved with Disney…Fox makes sense.

Pratt doesn't need to be the lead in everything.

I realize that, but as Hollywood's newest "It Guy", this is exactly the sort of role that will likely be offered to him.

And Oscar Isaac is an excellent suggestion for Nemo, though Onpersonally don't think Kingsley is too old.

Great. So a boyish looking cast for this one too right? :whatever:

Damnit Fincher! This movie needs you!

I could see ifran getting it. He's been such a star for a while now, popping up everywhere really.

Anyway I'm excited to see how this turns out. I hope the giant squid is awesome. It's actually such a wonderful story.

I wonder if they'll get a French person to play professor arronax? I hope they do. I also hope they gender swap the role because the book is a bit of a sausage fest

Anyway here's who I would cast.

Captain nemo - ifran khan
Ned land - the rock
Professor aronax - Melanie Laurent
Conseil - john Cleese

I bet all of Nemo's shipmates will be boys in their late teen's. A pool party in the ocean at the Nautilus.

Sounds like a Singer wet dream.

I'm definitely passing on this, as I do 99% of everything he does. He should just get into male faux-teen porn already.

Glad that he's taking a break from X-men for a bit.

Well then, this thread is super insensitive isn't it.

I'll stow all the politically incorrect banter and go with the classics. He's turning 50?

Singer is writing this with the script by Dan Studney (Jack the Giant Slayer, Reefer Madness) & Rick Sordelet -a stunt man who is mostly known for theatrical/off-Broadway productions. Despite Singer's affection for Jules Verne's classic, I have no doubt that he'll frick it up somehow as he did with Jack the Giant Slayer, Valkyrie & Superman Returns.

I'm 99.99% cert that Nicholas Hoult will go under water along with him. lol
