Bryan Singer's Excalibur remake

I suppose he did have Xavier and Magneto reading THE ONCE AND FUTURE KING in X2. Maybe he's a big fan of the source material.

Which still doesn't explain why they'd remake EXCALIBUR, so much.

I would love to see a full live action adaptation of that book today. That book is one of my all time favorites

I like Singer.

I really do, but he needs to go back and maybe direct one more small drama. I don't understand his need to touch Battlestar or even Excalibur

(I know it's King Arthur and there's like 100 movies about him but to remake an interpretation of the lore is weird. Why not just make another King Arthur movie then?

Image if Ridley Scott went on to do a 'remake' of Mel Brooks' Robin Hood: Men in Tights as a drama.
yes! why has no one made the winter king series, by bernard cornwell into a movie yet? it would be great, instead of remaking an old one, start new.

I actually like this idea. The last few movies about the Arthurian legend have been all swords, no sorcery. I'd love a whole new magical version. In the past 20 or 30 years, Excalibur has been the only version with a magical storyline. So if you want a magical version, you gotta remake Excalibur.

but don't remake Excalibur. Call it something else. There are 100 other stories of Arthur, why remake a specific version of the story? It's kinda lame.

It'll never have all of the great unintentional humor, or be as trippy either.

It was awesome weird though. I don't think Singer has the balls to show Uther banging out that chick in full armor again.

Boorman's movie is a tad boring but still has something strangely hypnotic......a remake wouldn't bother me !

to be honest, this probably will be caught in development Hell. It just reads "Develoment Hell" all over it. Plus, Singers stacked with projects to work on, so I'm not worry if this will go anywhere.

so you think WB gave him this so that they dont need to pay him the contract for superman?

Why bother? he will never top the original it had all those great British actors in thier prime (Patrick Stewart,Helen Mirren,Liam Neesom ect) and the AMAZING Nicole Williamson as the best Merlin ever put on screen his 180 from the traditional merlin was the films highlight.

Its a pure fantasy movie which is why i love it it may not be 100% to the books but the books are an amalgam of stories from different countries that have built up over time to give us what we read today.

I would support this movie if it's Arthur and his Knights on a quest, doing something that's a self contained adventure so it does not mess up Excalibur. He can set it in that same world, refer back to it, but in no way mess with it. They talked about their many battles and adventures in Excalibur so show one of 'em.

Richie’s Excalibur (said to be "in the tone of Star Wars")

I wonder what "tone of Star Wars" are they referring to? The original trilogy or the new one?

i'm sure the old one. who wants to to the tone of the new one (yes, I know that there's people who like the prequels but I'm talking about the consensus)

I hope that's the case.

Not a fan of the prequels.
