Hey all.

I am actually investigating building a Micro-PC. Or as many sites call them Mini-PC, or Small Form Factor PCs. Here is a site for the Shuttle XPC SS30G2 SE - LINK

Basically I want to build a PC that I can still use with some possibilities for games, but has the Smallest footprint possible. (Without having to resort to a PC in the Keyboard or the monitor as I have seen. No, dont suggest a MAC to me)

I am having to take the space in my house for a premium now, and the large desktops I have, are really not an option in the next few months, I need something that has such a small footprint, you literally dont know its there.

I figure, the chasis and motherboard as is standard, an upgraded video card and RAM, plus a larger hard drive. Then Wireless networking would do it.

Thoughts?

Anyone built a machine using this Form Factor before? Just curious on common experiences....

Using Pricewatch.com
and a few other sites I am putting together the rough price to give me what I am looking for.

Case and Motherboard (bundled) - $179.99

Processor - $179.99

Hard Drive - $0.0 (currently have a few Hard Drive)

Optical Drive - $0.0 (currently have a few drives)

Video Card - $139.00

Memory - $89.99 (for 1GB of PC3200 DDR400 RAM)

Wireless Networking - $59.99

This technically is all I need for $648.96.
But if I do this, I most likely need to get a LCD monitor as well. Here is a descent Monitor for what I might use it for
Monitor - $129.99

All this for $778.95

 that looks very smart! amazing how this technology has gotten uber small in the last 10 years

LOL! I resisted the urge to do that, Kal. Looks like it got the better of you.

heh...my only issue is the fact that case may get real hot...

But I may not bother, and just get a low end laptop, since it will only be used for browsing, paying bills....music...the small stuff

That is the one problem with these little mini systems, Malice, is that they do generate a hell of a lot of heat. A good amount of engineering goes into them to keep them cooled properly.

How powerful are they?
About average laptop level or what?
