Monsters and Critics reports that the planned remake of classic 1968 car chase flick "Bullitt" is finally moving forward.

Since 2003, Brad Pitt has been attached to star in the role of Lt. Frank Bullitt, made famous by Hollywood legend Steve McQueen, hunting a hitman who has killed his fellow officers.

The film has remained famous to this day mostly for featuring one of the best car chases in cinema history as McQueen's Mustang car speeds through the streets of San Francisco.

The site reports that the project has only now been given the green light as film bosses desperately try to kick-start as many movies as possible before the Screen Actors Guild begin their anticipated strike action.

Oh, God no.

I'm waiting for someone to yell and scream about how Bullitt should be a franchise.

I could really do without seeing this get made.

Why oh why? The original had one of the best car scenes EVER! They will embarass the original making such a remake.

Oh No!!!! this is abomination for god sake :(

Maybe they can attach a good movie to the car chase this time

lol, yeah, the only good thing about the movie was the car chase. The Road Warrior has better car chases anyway. I dont mind a remake.

The remake will be nothing more than car chases.

I guess some people are that shallow

Batty Belfry's open letter to Hollywood:

STOP THE FRIGGIN REMAKES!!!!!!!! IT'S KILLING ME ALREADY! CAN'T YOU PEOPLE WRITE ONE ORIGINAL IDEA? IT'S DISGUSTING! :cmad:

I just had to get that off of my chest....

How many people under 30 even know what Bullitt is? Because that's the only demographic that matters.

Correction: people under 30 that get bored watching Turner Movie Classics after 15 minutes because the movie isn't widescreen, the movie isn't in color, and there's no CGI.

If anyone fits that demographic, please die

No one here said they wanted a movie full of car chases

Well i'm under 30 and ive seen it,the chase is pretty famous and has attracted ppl for years IMO

I'm one of the few who didn't like the original so I'm not looking forward to the remake.

As long as the car looks like that, I would be happy. Ford is gonna offer a 2008 mustang (40th anniversary of the original movie) in this color scheme with those wheels.

here is a picture of the 1968 car:

If we could bring Steve McQueen back to life to star in a re-make...I MIGHT think it's an "ok" idea!
DAMN I'M TIRED OF RE-MAKES!!!!

if they want to do a remake and make it all car chases just do knight rider, that would kick ass.

I haven't watched the original movie yet, but I heard it had been lackluster (except for car chases). So I think if they get it right (talking about screenplay), then in two years people will realize tha they were wrong (just like it happened to TF).

If anyone to replace McQueen, that'll be Tom Jane (only the looks).

^^^

Jane has already become overrated in casting calls. I think Pitt will be fine as long as he knows his character.

The 68 still looks better:heart:

I'd like to see what Daniel Craig could do in that role with a well-written script. Someone like Thomas Jane, or even Pitt, would be cool, too.
