Did you see the shot Statham took at Marvel? If he was truly deep in negotiations with them and said this after they were called off, very unclassy and uncalled for. Not to mention there's barely any CGI in Daredevil...

He's been saying that for years. I'm pretty sure the reason he wanted to play Bullseye is because Daredevil is made in the old school hand to hand style.

Daredevil had one of the best down to the basics fight scenes in years.

I think if someone had shown him the hallway scene he'd definitely have had a different view of things.

Rumours are great and all, but there's a serious downside to them when it comes to casting in particular. Yesterday, Latino-Review revealed that Jason Statham was in talks to play Bullseye in season two of Daredevil, news which was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from fans. According to Bloody Disgusting, the British actor "was legitimately in heavy negotiations for the role and the leak killed it. Perhaps his agent saw the positive uproar and instantly upped the actor’s asking fee? Perhaps the studio spotted the same excited reaction and preemptively killed the deal out of fear of Statham’s management going for more money? Who knows. The bottom line is that yesterday the Crank star was at the top of the list and deep in negotiations and today Marvel has moved on to other pastures."

Regardless, whilst Statham is a great action actor, I don't think he would have been the best fit for Bullseye. The roles he plays always ends up being Statham with another name instead of ____ played by Statham if you get what I mean; his roles are all really stereotypical.

I don't really think that was a shot at Marvel from Statham. He was really just stating a fact about how big budget action is filmed these days and he just happens to be a guy that likes doing roles where it's mostly the actor doing the action.

Not that that really means anything though. Everything gets automatically denied until it's officially announced.

This was denied by the studio, not the actor. Generally when the actor denies it, it's a crapshoot until the official announcement from the studio. This is an official announcement from the studio that Statham isn't.

I'm not sure what to make of whether or not Marvel was looking at Statham at one point... but I guess it's irrelevant now. One way or the other, I think we dodged a bullet*, though. While I'm OK with Statham overall, I think he would've been a bad fit for Bullseye.

* And therefore, by definition, one not fired by Bullseye.

Was that Eh Maybe? Or was that L-R? I think he left them to start off his own venture... which seems to be exactly the same as his old venture. Doesn't matter though... both Eh Maybe and the remainder of the L-R folks (with the possible exception of Da7e) are hilariously unreliable.

Thank God. Whatever happened with Statham, I'm glad I probably won't be seeing him anywhere near this show. Give us an actor first, fighter second. Not the other way around.

But up until this year all his movies for at least 5 years have been generic, mediocre action movies. Cool man! you do all your own stunts, but your movies still suck.

If this was like the director/stars of The Raid or hell even if it was Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon, I'd have a little more respect for what theyre saying. But this is Jason "I literally am the same in 90% of my movies" Statham. Get out of here man.

I'd rather a movie where the actors have stuntmen and it's a good movie then a movie where the actors do their own stunts and the movie is trash/mediocre.

yep, there is that. but he is a martial arts actor, so that's why he always does action roles. not exactly the same someone like say mark wahlberg where it's not about him fitting the role, it's about the role fitting him. (jeremy jahns explains it that way when sony said they wanted him for nathan drake)

I think Bullseye would probably be a good role for him. I fancast him in the role many years ago. If I were him I wouldn't be turning my nose up at it or other superhero roles.
