Eh, I wouldn't go so far as to say that they shouldn't consider comedic actors... I just don't think Vaughn is the right choice for a role like this.

Well, I've seen Vaughn do drama with some intensity and he seemed pretty good to me. Why he doesn't vary his roles to do something other than his regular comedy schtick, I don't know but I am not going to write him off because its not what he normally does. Maybe he is not right for the role but I haven't seen many other suggestions on here that have been much better, most of which have been actors who are really too old like Kelsey Grammar. The only one I kinda sorta like is Vincent DiNorfrio.

How does making him black add more to the story?
I guess it doesn't really. it's just personal preferance, after the iron-man movies I have gotten tired of the same rich smug white guy in a suit being the villain.

I really like this guy for the role: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Love'em or Hate'em, he could bring Murdock some serious butt-kicking with an imposing physique and a decent acting range that could pull off a criminal mastermind, with the potential for really dark humor thrown in the mix. I don't know if Marvel is seriously considering him for any roles at the moment, but I think he would make a menacing Kingpin, if he's not intended to be some other character in the MCU.

I wish that could happen. Has he ever played someone as bad as Fisk?

In a Tv movie or mini-series? I doubt it'll happen. Moreover he's supposed to take on a role in the DC movie universe

He has played a anti-hero and sometimes quasi-villain in his TV acting as a WWE wrestler, as well as some darker characters in a few of his action movies, but something exactly like Fisk the Kingpin? I can't think of one, just giving a recommendation from his general TV and movie career to date. I believe he could pull off that ruthless character. They say actors like to play bad guys when given the chance.

He's done TV, went to films, done more TV, then more movies, next more TV shows; he's one of the rare few that is pretty good in both formats. I know DC cast him to play Robin opposite Ben Affleck (just kidding; we don't know for what yet). Both Marvel MCU and DC want him so it seems pretty likely he'll get on board the MCU train at a station sometime soon.

I'm honestly just glad to see these mini-series shows getting the DD reboot & the start-up treatments, can't wait! :yay:

The only person I want to see play Kingpin is John Goodman.

He is a guy that can go from silver tongued to psycho, murderous, and intimidating all in the same moment.

I think John Goodman would make a great Kingpin.

John Goodman does make everything he's in automatically better just by his presence so I'd approve if he got cast.

How about Rory McCann? He's got the size at the very least.

I would have liked Dean Norris for the role, but he's probably to short - even with camera tricks. Grammar and D'Onofrio are the 2 best suggestions I've seen so far, Grammar especially. He'd lend some credibility to the cast and bring in the viewers. Ray Winstone is a terrible choice, he just can't do accents. Wildcard choice = Mitch Pileggi.

I vote for D'onofrio but they'll probably go with Rory McCann since he's not from New York.

You know, I think James Gandolfini (RIP) would have made a great Kingpin. That would have been epic. Oh what could have been..

I'm gonna throw a left field choice out there. Kelsey Grammer. Hear me out....he may be a bit thin, but frankly, people who want a living personification of Wilson Fisk are just deluding themselves. You just are not going to find a viable actor who is in his mid to late 50s (or even 40s), who is also 6'6 and 300 lbs of pure muscle. It won't happen.

Plus Kingpin's physicality is not even his defining trait. Sure, physical intimidation is part of it, but it isn't what defines him. Tony Soprano could be physically intimidating when need be and he was short and flabby. You don't have to be a body builder to be physically intimidating. Kelsey Grammer could put on 30 pounds and a few prosthetics and look just fine in the role.

More importantly than looks however, he would nail it from an acting perspective. I don't know who watches the recently cancelled show Boss, but Grammer's portrayal of Tom Kane (mayor of Chicago) is essentially Wilson Fisk. Here's a censored clip:

Look at the power he exudes as he dresses down the governor of Illinois. It is exactly the type of power that Fisk ought to just radiate. Very few actors can simply exude power through their presence, Grammer is one of them. Plus, the resemblance isn't that far off if Grammer were to put on a little weight.

Say it with me, Kelsey Grammer for Kingpin!

I wanted him for Lex Luthor after watching Boss, but he'd totally be awesome as Kingpin.

The way things have been going for Marvel Studios lately I bet the next blow will be the re-confirmation that Kingpin is owed by Sony and will stay there as a retainer for their Spider-Verse.

Michael Chiklis with 8 inch platform boots on! :oldrazz:

Vincent D'Onofrio is a pretty good choice as he can be intimidating and has the size. Neal Mcdonough could also work IMO.

But he's Dum Dum

Marvel has the Spidey television rights, so it likely doesn't matter. If anything, we'd just see two different takes on Kingpin.

So is it possible that Marvel Studios could do a live-action Spidey tv show?
