Buying 2 TPB's on thursday

Is Batman vs Two-Face any good?

I haven't actually read it. I just saw it on the shelves. I didn't bother to flick thru it. It's a complilation of various Two Face stories thru the years, I'd say.

Is the one called "Faces" any good? Sorry if it's already been asked.

If you still haven't bought "Year One" by now, seriously what the hell are you still waiting for???

You should have read it before "The Long Halloween"... And after you have read "Year One", then get "Dark Victory" as it is a direct sequel to "TLH"

Techinically, you should have read them in this order:

Year One
The Man Who Laughs
The Long Halloween
Dark Victory

And if you want to get even more deep into it, you could throw some of the Wagner stuff in there too, but it's no really essential if you are strapped for cash.

I bidded on Year One but it went over $40, so I didn't bother about it. I just won The Jokers Last Laugh $20.50 lol and Lovers and Madmen for $8. So I did pretty well to get 2 brand new books for $12 less then it costs for one in the shops. I will pick up Year One next, but I'm not too keen on spending $40 due to its length.

Year one is worth every penny... Those other books you just mentioned, not so much...

Here's a link to IGN's list of the 25 Greatest Batman TPB's ever:

Notice "Year One" being #1 on the list...

I wasn't going to pay the $40 plus $8 shipping and then have to wait 4 days for it to get to me. If I wanted it so badly, I would have just went to the comic store and picked it up for $40. Notice I wouldn't have paid an extra $8 and had to wait 4 days for it to get to me... In second hand condition.

Also, kind of defeats the purpose buying on Ebay if the price goes over the price of how much it costs in stores.

Agreed. I'm just tryin to tell you, there is a reason it costs as much as it does...

It's a pure 100% Quality book and story. Maybe the essential Batman story...

If you're looking for more, I'd try Hush (same writer as TLH), Blind Justice (Really good if you can suspend your disbelief, and gives a much-needed Bruce Wayne prespective rather than Batman's) and Year One.

I agree that Year One doesn't have much action. Sometimes the art, especially on Batman himself, seems a bit strange. But it is really, really well written, and IMO Miller's only good Batman. Everything else seems to involve him trying to make Batman his own with bad, bad results.

I actually haven't read TLH, I don't want to draw any potential spoiling references to TDK, but Loeb on Hush was really good. Maybe a bit too much narrative, but a great story and amazing art.

Amazon.com
Honestly , if you are going to buy trades. That's just the best place to do it.

Faces is pretty creepy and disturbing. Matt Wagner never disappoints(although i didn't really like the first Batman/Grendal crossover. I felt it was too tedious to read to actually enjoy. And the second one was just "meh").

But yea, buy Faces. You won't be disappointed.

$40 bucks for year one???
I got mine at Barnes and Noble a couple years ago for 12 bucks.
