Camping

No, I hate when people camp. They ruin the game.

I went camping a lot when I was younger. Not any more...not into the whole "not showering" thing.

You mean waiting in one well hidden spot with a sniper rifle picking off people as they come by without revealing your location?

Yes. But I always feel bad about it.

if camping is a euphenism for sex then oh yeah, I go camping all the time

*high five*

I love camping, I've gone camping every summer since I was a child. My buds and I like to hike in with only packs and spend about a week. We've got a great spot upstate NY where we know the people who own the land, it's got a river and a small lake we always set up our tents beside. It's a cheap vacation, away fr4om the noise of the city, cell phones, computers, and we get to fish and hunt!

Me either. My friends convinced me to go this summer and I pretended there was an emergency and went back to the city to shower

Cripes, if some of you panty-waists can't stand a few days without hair gel and perfume, they do have state parks with full bath facilities so you can keep yourselves smelling lily fresh while spending a little time away from the television.

What do you do if this guy shows up?

I've been camping several times but it's too quiet for me.

I love camping!!! And who needs a shower? I just swim in the lake a few times, and that lasts me till the end of the trip :D

I would really like to try back country camping/portaging. Way more intense but I think it could be a lot of fun

I'm not a fan of squatting in the woods to pee, either :csad: What I do enjoy, however, is hiking. Haven't done that in years, either, but I particularly enjoyed going to Yosemite when I was younger. I just like having a bed to go back to rather than a tent.

I guess I'm spoiled here in Ontario because all of the provincial parks have full bathrooms or at the very least an outhouse for their campgrounds :O. But the outdoor bathroom issue doesn't really phase me either. I'd do it if I went back country camping for sure.

Hiking is awesome. Lots of cities have hiking trails within city limits, you should look into that. I do most of my hiking within Toronto these days.

I've done campgrounds before, too, but I remember plenty of childhood trips where it was just the woods and a tent, haha. Campgrounds can be fun...I remember one campground bathroom that I went into at night to wash my face and brush my teeth, and there was a HUGE wolf spider under the sink :csad: I think that now, sleeping in a tent just isn't my idea of taking a relaxing trip/vacation. Could I do it? Sure. But I'd rather stay in a nice cabin or something.

I prefer to hike in large state parks where the area is at least slightly mountainous, and there are some really good trails within an hour away where I live. I don't live in the city (suburbs) but it's an area where the cities are close, yet the "country" is fairly close, too. Maryland is weird like that. I just don't really have anyone to go hiking with these days. I used to go with my dad and sister, but his current girlfriend wouldn't like it, and his back is pretty bad these days.

Another favorite hiking experience was in North Carolina...I think it was the Blue Ridge mountains. There were SO many waterfalls and pools to go swimming in along the trail. It was gorgeous. I also got to go tubing on that trip...really long tube trip on the river; you just had to avoid the copperheads. Speaking of rivers, I've only been white water rafting once, but I LOVED that...I'd really like to go again.

Ooo I really want to white water raft! Can I ask, did you find the experience safe? I've heard it's fairly common to fall out of the raft but you have a PFD on and the leaders are really well trained.

Yes, it was very safe. I would not recommend going rafting without a guide unless you are very experienced, however. The guide tells you how to paddle and navigate the river. If someone falls out, it isn't a big deal. They teach you how to float and what to do depending on the type of water you could potentially fall into. On the trip I went on, we rafted over to a "stop" on the river where we could cliff-climb and jump off into a deep spot. Things like that are perks of going on a guided trip, even though you have to pay for it. You wear a hard helmet and a life preserver. You also get to choose the level of rafting...just don't get too daredevilish and try to skip a beginners trip, because let me tell you, even Class 2 can be trickier than it appears.

Does running half naked into the woods and digging a hole to sleep in count as camping?

Cause if it does, I've never been.
