Camping = I don't get it.

I just said i hated those type of campers in my first post on this thread on this page

So much self-loathing in you. It's very sad. Let it go, man. Let it go. The healing starts here.

before this goes completely off, where did the self loathing come into play???

oh i get it....

i'm not a snobby camper in the slightest, give me a decent sleeping bag and a fire and you'll hear no complaints from me for the whole trip...

Camping is about getting away from it all. To leave electricity, leave computers and to leave the T.V.

It's sad that quite a few Americans wouldn't be able to give those few things up for a couple days.

We have these things for a reason. Why would you want to go back to colonial times?

I'm a city boy, born and raised. On the playground, is where I spent most of my days. I'm far from just a techno-geek, as I do athletic things, work on my car, fix things around the house, etc. But going on in the middle of nowhere...pardon my french, but **** that ****.

If nothing else, you can get a breath of fresh air without choking on smog and exhaust and listen to the wind without some idiot blasting their radio.

If you care about those kinds of things of course.

I'll tell you what I don't get.

Fishing.

It's useless! You buy all that equipment for what? A goddamn fish on your wall? Pathetic. I say go the market and take a picture of you paying less for fish. It is a much more satisfying thing.

Here here. Fishing is lame. I've done it once and I want those hours of my life back.

i once went camping when i was really young and at Three in the morning a herd of wild cows came wandering through our campsite.

I have never been camping and to be honest I think i would be scared but it does sound nice if it is safe that is ..I worry about the bad people in the woods lol

Camping is awesome...i havent gone these past few summers. I love camping with no bathroom, no shower for a week...i understand why girls dont like it, but camping is a manly man thing. Waking up early, hearing the sound of the creek, cooking eggs and bacon on the propane stove, getting water from the spring...climbing a 150 foot waterfall. Good friggin times. The place i go to is awesome theres bears and racoons and all that jazz. Camping is perfect for "getting away".

You hit the nail on the head, my friend.

(Well, I have known girls who like camping...but yeah, they are a minority it seems.)

For anyone who doesn't "get it", thanks for staying home and in civilization. It makes it much nicer out there for those of us who do to go enjoy the great outdoors without having to deal with a bunch of other people. It also saves money on search and rescue since there's fewer inexperienced people out there getting themselves into bad spots.

Haha. Awesome. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I wish people like you would just live in the woods and stay out of the cities. You probably wear Birkenstocks.

Honestly, I think she lives next door. The Koreans must have found her and brought her in then never let her go outside until now. It looks EXACTLY like her.

The Koreans have a daughter who's around my little brothers age so I made him go ask her how long theyve had the cat and she said 3 years. :cmad:
They can have her though, I'm over it.

I like camping, because there's no experience like sleeping under the stars.

Hahahaha, how did nobody catch that?

I agree with that 100% You don't take kids from the Bronx like me and put 'em in Yellowstone National Park, I'd lose my mind.

Not entirely true. My wife grew up in the Bronx and later in Queens, and she loves camping. :)

The last time I ever went camping was two years ago, at a mosquito infested hell-hole called "Fletcher Island" in the middle of Lake Champlain.
