Can someone explain the popularity of the Ice Age Franchise?

Shrek 1 is fine, 2 is "ok", the rest is recycle bin material. IMO.

I agree there. The 3rd was a managable attempt but 4 was such a waste and an obvious push for cash grabbing

The only Shrek-related movie I actually really liked was Puss In Boots.

I do like the Ice Age movies. Like, I don't think they are breathtakingly awesome or anything, but I've seen the first three and they are entertaining, especially for little kids, I would assume. I would put them above MOST other non-Disney/Pixar animation.

My son just turned two and freakin loves these movies. Talking animals and dinosaurs are always big hits with kids.

As a father, watching these movies is a decent compromise as well. I'd rather sit and watch these movies over a lot of the crap out there directed towards children.

Blue Sky does do pretty good work. Their last couple of flicks, Rio and Horton, along with the Ice Age franchise, aren't horrible. Robots was probably my favorite one.
