Finally saw this. Didn’t really like it. The kills are cool and creative. The bathroom scene was fun. And I appreciate they didn’t try to just CGI in a young Tony Todd to be the killer and actually use a boogeyman effect.
But the social commentary on this was just too heavily done and distracting. Using real victims of hate crimes to weave into the Candyman lore diminishes the real tragedy of them.
Also that damn red beanie was annoying me the first half of the movie.
