Does anyone else think it's a bit strange that they seem to be avoiding Nazis in Captain America so far? They seem to be replacing them with Hydra agents.

Why would this be so? Do you think Captain America will face real world history and icons like FDR and the upper management of the Nazi regime or will it be all comic book inspired characters like Hydra agents and Howard Stark?

They're making them generic Hydra agents to be politically correct so as not to offend Nazis, since not all Nazis are evil, only fundamentalist ones. Better to choose some fictional villain than risk offending an actual group. :ikyn

Who said he was only fighting Hydra and no Nazis? A picture is released that shows a couple of HYDRA agents...so that means he ONLY fights HYDRA agents?

I remember when the first pictures of the animated HULK from the Ang Lee movie was released...it was just to show how realistic they were making him...it didn't have pants on it....so of course a bunch of people freaked out about the naked HULK that would be in the movie.

Wasn't it said at Comic Con that in this movie HYDRA is formed by the Red Skull? Red Skull is the definitive Nazi, and is shown wearing the uniform in the comic con footage.

I wish they could've inserted a little more green into those biker outfits, though. Currently they look a little GI Joe-ish.

I'm sure the Nazi's will be in it in some capacity. I mean, it's set during WWII, it's kind of hard to avoid them.

Sheesh, Nazis these days.... am I right?

I believe it was said that Hydra is gonna be Red Skulls divison of the army so they are Nazis. However I wouldnt mind a swastika or two in there

What better way to denote that they're evil? ( I'm sorry...I HATED EVERYTHING about GI Joe. Except for Levitt. I'm a JGL fan.) :woot:

That's exactly what i first though when i saw this. It looks more GI Joe than cobra's people in that actual movie.

There is more evidence than the recent photos. A few weeks ago there was an extra detailing a days shooting that involved marching past tanks, trucks, etc. emblazoned with Hydra's logo, not swatikas.

LOL noobs in this movie Hydra is a i would say special forces type thing branch of the Nazis. and red skull is leader

well, the question still remains...will they push the Nazi aspect to the background and focus on Hydra?

I think they will do both, since hydra is led by red skull they might show them more in the movie

Indiana Jones never had a problem with it. :O

Times have changed since then. Just like in the 60s, all Klingons were portrayed as evil but by ST:TNG the Klingons were perhaps misunderstood, and could even be allies, it's the same with the Nazis. :whatever:

So what recent shows/movies have made a concerted effort to portray the 'lighter/friendlier' side of Nazis?

Nazis will never be viewed in a good light. Good lord!

I dunno about 'never'.....but let's say you were to portray the ones in WWII who were responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent Jews, for example....

This isnt a serious discussion right im pretty sure the studio isnt catering to that key 18-30 Nazi demographic. Although I do remember hearing Warner Brothers almost pulled the Joker so not to offend psychotic homicidal clowns

...who are really crying on the inside, lest we forget.

I think there was a Lifetime movie called "The Friendly Nazi". Or maybe it was "The Nice Nazi". I can't remember. :woot:

I guess that does it, then. The misunderstood, peaceful, and moderate Nazis who were only looking to eek out a comfortable place in society have no place in modern WWII-era (at least part of it) movies. Hitler was a painter...and a vegetarian, after all....so he couldn't have been all bad, eh? ;) :oldrazz:
