Which scene is this in again?
A prototype of a thing as iconic as Cap's shield definately deserves awe. I sure would be if its the first time i laid my eyes on it and held it in my hands. Its only natural I think.I think thats still plausible... If Captain America is a historic symbol, then his shield, prototype or originial, would cause a certain amount of awe.

This may be a long shot, but I believe that the shield and, the short scene it was in in Iron Man 2, was more than an easter egg or wink to the fans. I personally read a little more depth to it than that. Stark uses the shield to balance the piece of machinery that he is using to save his life. Hes using it to balance it. Now as most of you all know, Tony and Steve become close during there time in the Avengers, as contradictory as they both are to each other. I think Favreau meant for the shield in that scene to foreshadow/symbolize Tony and Steves friendship and close bond. The shield balances that conduit or whatever it is so tony can save his life. Steve was always Tonys "balance", Even to the point where Tony looked up to him. As as a film maker Favreau is and is becoming i felt that scene meant more than to get us fanboys wet in the pants. Anyone else care to elaborate?
