I'm becoming a fan of Captain America. I'm all caught up in the current run, and I've read the new deal hardcover. Are there any other Captain America books (preferably things that are readily available in trade) that are strongly recommended?

I'm also would like to get started on the avengers. The only avengers related things I've read are the Ultimates vol1, House of M and Civil War. Thanks

Go for the Avengers and Captain America DVD-ROMs on Amazon. 40+ years of comic books compiled into one, small, precious digital video disc. Can't go wrong.

Ultimates Gods and Monsters
Ultimates Grand Theft America
Avengers Under Siege
Stern/Byrne's run which just came out in trade

I strongly agree. These are the best items out there available for comic collectors that want to get these back issues. I've got them all so far and am looking forward to upcoming releases like Ironman, Daredevil and Thor.

They really are the best thing since sliced bread and the microwave oven. And ridiculously affordable.

Iron Man, I've heard of, but DD and Thor? Oh man, what a treat. These are such a steal!

But if you don't care for reading comics on a computer screen,

Then Busiek's Entire Avengers Run is being collected in hardcovers called Avengers Assemble. Arguably the best run anybody has ever had on the title. You should also get Avengers Forever, Arguably the best Avengers Story ever, also by Kurt Busiek.

For Cap, you already got the New Deal, and the Current run, other than that I can only recommend To Serve and Protect (Not sure if it's out of print though.) This collected the first few issues of Caps return after Heroes Reborn, by Mark Waid.

for cap read...captain america - cap lives.

also for some classics read the original invaders comics...always good to see cap clobber hitler!!

plus our very own union jack is in there too and namor and the original human torch.....classic!

If You Can Find It The Cap Paperback Novel Libertys Torch

I've got them also. They are the greatest things ever produced comic book related. Does anyone know when the DD, Ironman, and Thor ones are coming out? Does DC plan on doing the same? I hope so!

I always forget about that one. Very good story.

I'm having trouble finding the Under Siege.

Oh Civil war is such an awsome comic with cap in it.:ninja:

If you can find back issues I would recommend issues 402 to 408. You won't be dissapointed.:woot:
