[Couldn't think of a snazzy title]

Okay,so I am going to be off to Reading University to study English Lang + European Lit.

I had my heart set on journalism as a career prospect...but recently that has been put into some doubt.

I don't know what I want to do! I mean, I still want to do something in the realm of writing, but I just don't know what.

Screenplay writing?

Become an Author?

WHAT?

Enlighten me Hype!

Well if you don't know how are we meant to? Just do what you enjoy and stick at it.

Good luck,kid.
I'm on my second career and I want to move on to my 3rd. So college was not for me,would've been a waste since I've got a desire to do so much.

Began as a Recreation Therapist in long term health care and now I'm an electrician, don't ask. :O

ok so here gos.your major money in wiriting is in the media.go wirte for tv shows, youll leanr alot, get the right mind set, make connections then you can get into film.magazines isnt a secure career because they slowly putting major cash into online stuff.tv shows will always need new writers and its not hard to find your way into that.get a degree or atleast a few classes in business just to get the lay of the land(i recommend this for any career involgin working with people and making sure they are happy,i took some and its really helped me do everythiung from cutting food cost to finding a good stock venue)above all that, keep your mouth shut and your fingers moving, ideas get stolen more then they get thought up.Listen and practice, each day find a funny or obscure person and write a synop for them.keep all these around.start learning peoples names, who runs what, look into local media stations and publications.Stack your resume with everything youve done and above all dont give up,its the most discouraging career in hollywood, the hookers have more hope then most writers but eventully if you keep at it and devote 99% of your life to it itll pay off.dontbe afriad to adjust yourself around certain people, same goes with your writing style. You shouldent limit yourself either, dont sit down and say "i wanna write a comedy" just let it flow out.keep friends that will benifit you with you career and dont hang with people that may become jealous and never, ever miss an apointment.Thats it for now, hope that helps you out.

Are you any GOOD at writing fiction (do you have a good imagination)?

Are you better at writing fact?

How important is the amount of money you make?

How well do you work with other people (should you be writing at home or in an office with others)?

Are you a good "self starter" or do you need motivation to keep you going?

how about using your language skills to post on superhero message boards.

hmm, try taking a few different writing classes and see what sticks.
