Carrey Making Christmas Carol - Robert Zemeckis to direct

I love the details in the poster too! Scrooge's facial expression is priceless! Can't wait to see Carrey bring it all out on the table for this one! It is going to be incredible! Is anyone else excited about the November release, as opposed to December? It is nice to see a holiday film a bit earlier, it will give me a jump start on the holiday mood!

Just saw the trailer, it is stunning visually, and really evoked the atmosphere of the piece.

Since you mentioned the trailer, I just had to watch it again! I love Scrooge's voice! Well done Carrey...well done!

he use the motion capture tech, but for animation.

New commercial just showed during Heroes. New footage looks very well done. And it is offically rated PG for scary images and sequences.

Has anyone checked out the train tour that is going around the country? It is coming to Washington D.C. on Tuesday and I am actually going to dip out of work a bit early to check it out! I am pretty excited!

Just saw the trailer. Eh? This just feels like it doesn't need to be done and the new tech is sure to give it a broader scope of Dickensian London/England, but it seems mostly used to amp up the special effects. And Carrey just seems all sorts of wrong for this role. Maybe if the reviews say it's amazing, I'll check it out--but for now I'll stick with the masterful George c. Scott rendition of this story.

I did like Beowulf, though.

he he .....................hhhhhh what?

you really think? he looks like the perfect actor for this movie for this role.

Why couldn't Jim Carrey do this live action? I feel that motion capture hinders his natural expressive talents.

I have to agree with dark_b on this one..I don't think they could have picked a more perfect actor for the role that Carrey will be playing (or should I say roleS). Jim Carrey is just so full of life and energy so he will be able to embody the multiples roles completely and bring them all to life in different ways. This movie will really show everyone how talented he truly is as an actor.

My nephews Ryan and Raymond are voice actors in this movie. From everything I have seen this is going to be an instant Christmas classic.

Keep your eyes out for a new Robert Zemeckis project they are trying to get off the ground. The working title is "Calling All Robots." I don't know a lot about it because they are not allowed to talk about anything (at least to me) yet. But my sister who obviously knows I am comics and Sci-Fi buff says it is right up my alley and looks like a killer concept.

Oh and Mars Needs Moms. Three of my sisters 4 sons (Ryan/Robert "Bobby"/Raymond) are doing hatchling voices/sounds whatever in that lol. Small parts but fun for them.

And yes... all 4 of her sons names start with the letter R. ;)

the same problems as always. it is sad that when you watch the old CGI movies from Zemeckis and you see the same problems in hes new movies.
look at the smile at the end. there is no life to the smile. no joy. you are going to tell me that the fantastic actor who has big facial expressions Jim Carrey smiled like that? please.

but still it looks like Carrey will be fine in the performance and what will come through.

Wasn't the same facial movement capturing technology used in Cameron's Avatar used in this film as well?

I don't see how you can judge an entire 96 minute movie on a 2 minute clip. I think if they showed Scrooge coming around with a positive Christmas spirit then it would give the entire movie away from the get go. Also, his name is Scrooge so those "no life, no smile" expressions are fitting with the character. Carrey also plays 4 different roles in this movie, so I am sure we will be seeing those eccentric facial expressions of his numerous times throughout the film.

Caught like the first 70 some minutes on my lunch hour. It's pretty much a moving picture version of the original book, they even kept the olde english style of speaking from the dialogue. It's pretty crazy in 3D, mostly due to the depth of the foreground. As far as the scare factor, there are a few jump scares and some eerie moments that are actually on par with horror movies, so the kiddies may actually get freaked out at a few points.

You "caught" the first 70 minutes? What, you left 4/5 of the way through because lunch was over? :funny:

Yeah, I went back late. I left the office early to catch it at like 1pm.

Just saw this. Definitely one of the best versions and that is saying a lot.

I know, right? It looked like they were trying to make a sock puppet smile.

I wish Zemeckis would go back to live action movies. He kind of fails at animation.
