Casey Affleck and Allegations of Sexual Harrasment Surfaces

for context, we're still arguing about equal pay for men and women in this country.

With this thing about Last Tango in Paris, I'm still surprised all these people outraged are still silent about Affleck's 2 separate allegations of sexual misconduct

Yeah this has pretty much been glossed over yet again. The man is hosting SNL and keeps getting awards.

Why aren't more people talking about this on social media? Sure he's a white man who is more likely to get away with this, but the benefit of social media is that many people can band together to help really break through that.

Because he doesn't come off as a scummy individual. Just weird. Which a lot of people are fine with. To dust off that old Chris Rock chestnut, "it's only sexual harrassment when the man is ugly."

I honestly think it's because he's not that well known. If it was Ben, social media would be up in arms.

Maybe I'm just going by anecdotal evidence here, but if I would mention the name Casey Affleck to any friend (man or woman), I would be met with a blank stare. No one cares enough to get riled up over these allegations.

Since this hasn't picked up any further traction, this is what I'm led to believe.

Nate Parker wasn't that well known
No, but the movie he was involved with was.

Most people hear Casey Affleck and will ask if he was related to Ben, not knowing they are brothers. He isn't that famous and his movie hasn't gotten the widespread notice that Birth of a Nation did.

Bill Cosby allegations were out there for years. No one really paid it any mind until Hannibal Burress did his stand up bit.

The actress from The Last Tango in Paris told her side of things for years, but no one paid her any mind until just now, when it came directly from the director's mouth.

If we wanna see Affleck get his, it ain't gonna happen until a male celeb of reasonable stature outs him publicly.

Ben outing him would turn this into fromt page material. But I doubt Ben would do it.

Oh I wouldn't count on that, unless there's a huge rift that we're not privy to. Could you imagine what that Thanksgiving would be like?

I could see Phoenix turning heel and outing him, though.

"Ha! Screw you, Casey! This is for breaking my Millennium Falcon when we were kids!"

I was just about to say this. Maybe there really is something to the complaint that women's stories are only noticed when they're verified by a man.

And the most bizarre thing of it is, as much as I love Hannibal Buress, he's hardly A-list, and yet as soon as that bit went viral, it was like "Oh s***, I guess we better get on this!"

Yeah but it isn't as famous yet. Regardless it is still typical of Hollywood to ignore anything like this until it becomes inconvienent to them.

Everyday sexism at work. Sad but true.

Yeah... :csad:

I guess it's not that enough people aren't talking about it, it's that the right kind of right people aren't talking about it. When someone finally speaks out on something like this, you'd think it would be a good thing but the fact when it's a male who isn't eve a victim speaks out about it and then people suddenly believe it, that's ****ed up right there.

It goes to show it's rampant and much bigger than people would even think to admit (which is scarier) to the point of who our next President is.

No, this is something that has been going on for decades.

Yeah... I've seen people at Facebook trying to attribute messed up stuff post election to "Trumps America" there may be different instances but these kinda things have been happening forever

IMO, really the only thing that can be attributed to "Trump's America" is that the people who used to utter slurs under their breath now feel free to scream them at the top of their lungs.

Overlooking women who have been assaulted isn't a new thing we can thank him for, though he's certainly not helping.
