So let's look at some numbers, because I wanna see this mapped out:
--Assuming the book series dates were the same, if GoT had started in 2000, it would have come out with only the first two books on the shelf.
--The third book, 'A Storm of Swords' would have come out in between the end of the first and the start of the second season.
--By the time the 4th season had finished, the show would have pretty much surpassed the book series up to that point.
--The fourth book, 'A Feast For Crows' would finally have come out after the 6th season of the show.

I had mostly thought that they would be following the time frame of the show, hence the 2000-2007, which is why I had started with characters that appeared in the first season or had a particular actor in mind for a role, like Charlie Hunnam, who would have been playing Ramsay roughly around the time he played Boise in Cold Mountain (as shown above). The part about the book series dates, I honestly didn't think about them.

Id make a few changes, but mostlly Cassian.
I posted that before seeing the movie, based on the trailers alone.
Cassian Andor was particularlly hard to read, and just seemed pretty generic good guy soldier.
I was hoping to come up with a more familiar mexican american 70s actor for Cassian, my first thaught was Edie Olmos, but from the trailers Olmos struck me as a bit to intense for Cassian, so I chose Andy Garcia (Cuban) eventual fellow Zoetrope protégé.
He made more sense to me at the time.
Although now after seing the movie, and how freakin layered and complex: shaddy, dark, ruthless, unapoligetic, also gentle, and heroic Cassian is, I think a young 70s Edie Olmos would actually have been perfect for the character in every way.

I once thought of Garcia as Poe Dameron in an 80s Force Awakens.

Looking at the cast I'm not sure McKellen works for Krennic but I can't think of anyone better. Maybe Christopher Lee? (who was considered to play Tarkin in Ep.4)

I'd say John Hurt as Krennic, but I had him as General Hux in my 70s Force Awakens cast.

Good Ol' Olmos would be perfect as Cassian.

I'd go with Amidou from Sorcerer as Bodhi.
