Mods, I did a search but couldn't find a similar thread to this ........... if it's a duplicate please delete.
So if WB ever decide to do a live adaption based on Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns, who would you cast as the main players in the film? Bearing in mind that most of the main characters who are already well known in the Batman world (Batman, Joker, Alfred, Gordon) would be well into their 60s & 70s, maybe more for some of them. I know we've had some threads clamouring for Keaton or Bale to return in a few years for something like this, but I thought it would be interesting to discuss some new suggestions.
Here's mine .................
Batman/Bruce Wayne - Tom Selleck. He's 67 now, but still in very good shape and looks younger. He's 6"3 and well built, and could conceivably still pull off a suave (older) Bruce Wayne in a tux. I think he has the kind of gravitas and seriousness needed to play an older more jaded version of Wayne/Batman. Wayne even has a moustache in the opening sections of the original novel . I know Clint Eastwood often gets mentioned, but I think Clint is a little too old and skinny looking now to play the role.
Joker - Bill Nighy. I quite like Nighy as an actor and think, in terms of looks anyhow, he could definitely pull off the typical skinny, creepy yet older Joker look.
Alfred - Christopher Plummer. Alfred has always been a fair bit older than Bruce Wayne, so we'd have to go for someone who's getting on a bit but still a seasoned and respected actor. Plummer fits the bill, and is 82 now.
Commisioner Gordon - John Hurt. Hurt is 73 now, but still a fantastic actor. I've always thought of him as similar to an older version of Gary Oldman, so he would be my obvious choice for Gordon.
