Keaton in a Dark Knight Returns

I'm having too much trouble seeing Keaton playing Miller's Batman. Two different beasts.

Yet Keaton based his Batman on TDKR. He loved that book.
As far as him playing it again, if you'd get a great director and script, I doubt he would refuse, plus when he was asked about sequels, Batman was in it current hands. I doubt he would want to do a Batman in current timeline but TDKR is another matter entirely as it deals with an older Batman.
Plus, there's many fans out there that want to see Keaton come back and finish what should've been at least a trilogy.

I think also that part of the reason why Keaton left the franchise was because they weren't delving more into the character of Batman/Bruce Wayne... Soooo... Miller's DKR is definitely a great way for him to do that.

I actually really like Keaton as an actor and he's been in some terrible films, but always acted really well. I think Multiplicity is one of his seriously underrated performances.

Keaton will always be Batman to me. :hrt:

The politics of Hollywood and $$$$ are the only thing getting in the way of Keaton returning to the role. Hollywood cares more about GENERAL AUDIENCES than it does film fans.

Why didn't WB do this. Are they stupid. Keaton still would be great.

I think Keaton is a great actor, but if this did happen, I would be afraid he would be playing a parody of himself as Batman.

Impossible. He wouldn't be mocking or doing a spoofy version of his portrayal of Batman... soooo.... yeeeeah

Keaton would still look good with the cowl on.

That picture of Keaton is both hilarious and terrifying. I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

You guys are crazy. Keaton was a great Batman for his time though. Good actor.

I just found out Keaton is doing voice work for Burton's Frankenweenie. Hopefully they talk about Beetlejuice 2 .

That is not what I mean. I mean he will play the exact same character that he did in the 2 Burton films without any change, whatsoever.

He would need to adapt his version of Batman to fit the story of DKR.

I doubt they'd ever copy the comics and title it "The Dark Knight Returns". However I can picture someone making a film based on the comics under a different title. I think "The Legend of Batman" would sound much better for a film.

The Dark Knight Returns sounds much more like a film title than "The Legend of Batman". Unfortunately, any Batman film with "The Dark Knight" in the title will be assumed its part of the Nolanverse by most of the GA.

The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight Rises
The Dark Knight Returns? This most be the third Batflick by Nolan since you know, half of the GA has never heard of Batman Begins.

I think The Dark Knight Returns is too standard for a film. After awhile people are no longer interested in seeing just another flick that's part of the series and that's exactly what TDKR sounds like. If Nolan got The Dark Knight over then so can a different director with The Legend of Batman. It just takes an intelligent director and a marketing campaign.

He has as much a chance of making a Beetlejuice sequel as he does starring in another Batman movie. I mean Beetlejuice is an older movie than B89.

The character is still his to play though. Batman has been recast and another reboot is looming. So I think a return to Batman is impossible but Beetlejuice does have a slight chance. They could do a little animated short for the Frankenweenie film when it hits dvd and see if it generates interest.

Keaton kind of fell off the hollywood radar. If they were to ever make this movie (unlikely) and they were gonna bank roll 100 million plus they wouldn't go for keaton, unless somehow tarantino was directing.

I could see some sort of indie/fan project getting keaton maybe to step in?

Well i don't think anyone would expect any less from the calibre of actor that Michael Keaton is. He's consistently good (albeit has been in some bad movies)... So I am fairly certain he would adapt and "age" his version of Batman to suit the story.
