I'm curious do we actually have any influence on who gets casted in certain projects i.e. Captian America, Thor, Namor do studios actually look at these threads and contact the actors agents or is it basically just a fan thing?

Of course not, it's just fun to guess and argue about why you think you're right.

Although I have seen plenty of suggestions that have come true

Bale as Batman, Eckhart as Dent, Spacey as Lex (not sure about the Spacey one actually) and I personally always thought Chiklis would be a great Thing (and he was IMO). but i think it was mostly coincidence.

Back in the early 90's I always said Patrick Stewart would make a great Professor X. And he was. unfortunately the rest of my picks at the time for the X-Men were not great picks.

Patrick Stewart was definitely a decision that was somewhat fan driven. Christian Bale was a name that was a dream casting for fans for quite some time, I think I'd heard Oldman for Gordon a number of times before as well. Spacey for Lex Luthor seemed like it existed before the movie. Downey Jr. was a dream by fans for a while too. You can't say how much or how little we influence execs, but don't think for a second they completely tune us out. Sometimes the voices of fan boards are heard if they are loud enough.
