Anyone ever read the book? Here are some of the changes.

In the novel...

Vesper kills herself with sleeping pills in her hotel room.

Bond crashes because as he chases Lechifre, Lechifre releases a line of spikes onto the road hitting Bond's car.

In the book M is still a man and Moneypenny is mentioned.

Felix, as in the other movies is white.

Bond's 2 kills to make it to a double 0 are a bit different. One is shot through a window as Bond is in a building opposite.

I think I enjoyed the film better. I know they had to change it and buff it up a bit obviously for story, time and the year it was written.

Money was mentioned but not in that way.

Felix is not black end of story. Very dumb for them to keep doing that to characters. If you want a character of a different race then make up a new one, leave the others alone. Felix is white in the novels that's that. The movies should respect Ian's characters.

The line at the end "The b1tch is dead.", is in the novel aswell, I was happy to see it in the film.

Bond in the book was going to ask Vesper to marry him.

Bond was afraid he wouldn't be able to perform as a man after the torture, even though the doctor said he'd be alright, but that others who'd been through that torture before didn't survive.

Mathis was never suspected of being a traiter.

In the book when Bond arrives at his room Mathis shows up as a "radio salesman", and tells Bond that his room is bugged by a so called couple in the next room, later you find out Vesper was the reason the "couple" and so on knew about him before he got to the Hotel.

Also in the novel, there were two guys who were hired to blow up Bond, they were told one camera case had a smoke bomb and the other a bomb, they were to blow up James then, hit the smoke to cover their escape.

But, it turned out both were bombs, they had decided to throw the smoke first then blow threal one, those who hired them figured they'd get rid of the killers and Bond. James survived of course, he just got tossed in the explosion but, the bloody remains of the two bombers rained down on him and he had to stop himself from throwing up.

Maybe the scene in the movie where he blows up that guy who tried to blow up the plane is a nod to this scene in the novel.

Some info on Le Chiffre from the book ...

Ignore him. He's tried the same trolling tactic in the Misc. film forums as well.

The changes from the novel didn't affect the film whatsoever. Who cares if Felix is black? It's not like he's a big enough character to where it's a difference anyways.

Was Moneypenny mentioned in the film? I may missed somrhing.

I think they're talking about when Vesper says "I am the money" and Bond says, "every penny of it."

Or when he is reading the document in his car and he says "I love you too M."

But I've seen the film twice and I never heard a mention of Moneypenny.

They just mention Money Penny when Bond and Vesper are talking but, just about something else and it's a play on words.

I see there some changes. But from what I saw, the movie looked much better

Not trolling at all. Felix is a big part of Bond, and I want to see Felix not some guy who looks like Isaac from Loveboat.:cmad:

Oh yeah, it is better. But it was the first novel, and there was room to build. I'm glad they didn't make it just like the book or it would've been... meh.

I remember Quentin Tarrantino saying if he did Casino Royale it would be set in the time the book is.

In the book Bond wasn't poisoned, one of Le Chiffre's henchmen put a gun to Bond's back, it was made to look like a cane, and that is how he got it into the casino, but Bond stopped him by acting like he fainted and rolled back off his chair, but he made an idiot of himself, and said it was just from all the stress of the game.

Glad they went with the poison instead. Added more tension.

The best thing in the movies scripts is a logical connection of some effective scenes. That's what I love

Yeah, I watched it twice as well. No specific mention of Moneypenny. The whole "play-on-words" thing isn't exactly a mention. 75% people wouldn't even catch it, and the rest 15% who do get it, wouldn't really care either-way.

Although I liked Casino Royale, I missed Q, and Moneypenny. In accordance to the novel, Moneypenny needed a little screentime, but evidently Campbell thought that leaving her out would be a good idea.

In the book, Bond and Felix Leiter are introduced to each other before the mission and Leiter is there representing the CIA to work with Bond. It makes more sense as to why Bond gets bought back in for the game. It also formally introduces the classic Bond/Leiter relationship.
