Characters damaged beyond repair?

When talking about the citizens, you have to remember--they haven't seen the behind-the-scenes stuff that we, as readers, have.

They were pissed-off when a group of heroes blew up a city by their own stupidity, so they wanted a way to have them become civil servants. The government supplied that with the SHRA, and then a bunch of heroes just went gurrella. Then they broke a lot of crap and the anti-regs quit. That's the extent of the knowledge the layman in the story knows. They don't know about Clor, or the useage of the Thunderbolts.

And that's why Colorado wants The Thunderbolts as their team for the Initiative?

Right...the public knew nothing about the usage of The Thunderbolts?

Haha

The way they see it, the Thunderbolts are a team of "reformed" supervillains under government supervision.

But even that dead kids mother(whats her face) questions that. She supporting the SHRA more than anyone.

I was just thinking what characters in Civil War did Marvel with the help of Mark Millar did so much damage to that there may no way to fix. Here's my list.

Captain America- Wussing out on a fight like that.

Iron Man- Lets face it. Cloning Thor killing friends the list goes on and on.

Reed Richards- Man, Mark Millar has turned him into such as a$$ was a way give Stand Lee an F you. He almost has the same list as Iron Man.

Ms. Marvel- Is nothing more then Iron Man's henchman who will beat up a mother in front of her child.

Spider-Man- With his ID out in the world and Unmasked not being good and hearing future story arcs from Joe Quesada is not making me hopeful at all.

The citizens of New York- What can I say they tried to tackling Captain America. And they want to fight for Iron Man. Mark thanks for making citizens of New York look like idiots.:cmad:

The citizens of New York are only the pawns of the story. So they don't matter so much.

Spider-Man, he usually has a hard life. Now he's got a new set of troubles. Nothing new there. He's even gone back to wearing another old costume.

Ms. Marvel - hardly a henchman. She felt guilty after arresting Arachne, in case you didn't read the issue. What she'll do afterward is her own initiative. She even supplied info that helped Floyd and Urich uncover Stark's manipulations.

Iron Man and Reed, they've got their own problems coming. They reap what they sow. World War Hulk is just one payback. The trick is overcoming them and becoming heroes again.

Capt. America - he needs to go on a road trip. Go see America like Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda in "Easy Rider".

My list:

X-Men. Whipped dogs. Fencesitters who only deserve bupkiss. Professor X is a hypocrite. Cable has finally caught up with his old age.

Stature. Left her teammates. She'll have a hard time working with other kids her age.

Nighthawk. He's got weak convictions and ready to switch sides when it gets too hot for him.

Captain Marvel - they brought him back now? Worst idea ever!

Wonder Man - a complete yes-man and poster boy.

Speedball/Penance - the biggest idiot of the younger generation. No matter what he does he's an idiot who helped get innocent people killed.

and they couldn't just fix everything will all the time travelers and time machines?
i think that would have been a good B Plot for the CW sending a team into get dr. dooms time machine to go back and stop everything.

The sad thing is I'm still waiting for if the Aftermath titles go in a sick hole of sales mostly because this issue is going to sale well no matter what and for Marvel to see what a mistake they made and hopefully fire Joe Q and just set the clock back before Civil War started and say Civil War never happened never happen.

But one can dream right.:cwink:

What's ironic is that by the end, she's probably the one most dubious of it. Tony's prattling like a maniac about how shiny and cool it's all going to be and she's like "Oh. Okay. Gee."

that wouldn't have worked in time travel if you go to an era during your liftime[where you're aleady there] you'be be in two places at once creating an alternate timeline dimension

I will say that especially after FRONTLINE #11 so nicely summurized stuff that I won't be able to look at Iron Man in 616 the same for a long, long time. At least Dr. Doom was honest. :o

and THIS is how they treat not onlyly one of thier oldest heroes but thier newest movie franchise marvel needs a new EIC quadruple stat:ninja:

Practically anything can be forgotten if the characters have a good writer.

Unless you're married to the Wasp and you beat her up. Once is enough.
Or...
If you have sex with the Juggernaut.
Or...
If you're last words before dying are "Not like this, not like THIS!".
:o
BWHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I think we're all just waiting to see the ridiculous act of retconning Spidey's ID being made public. It may not happen any time soon but I'm sure they're going to retcon it eventually. :down

Captain America didn't surrender because he was afraid of losing; he was winning. But he saw that he was ultimately wrong, and so he stopped. Within the parameters of the story, that's the correct action. I don't see the problem. He shouldn't be so obsessed with winning that he overlooks what he's actually fighting for.

I don't really believe that any character is damaged beyond repair.

I don't see Cap being damaged in that way either. He saw that, even though he was right, his actions were causing the destruction of New York. I mean he wasn't the only one, Iron Man's side was there too. But he saw that they took the fight to the people that heroes are here to protect. And maybe he saw that he lost sight of that or something.
But I think that he is damaged now in that he seems beaten. Like he doesn't believe in himself, again. Thats how he seems damaged to me, but like always he will bounce back from that.

Its true, Spider-Man's life is usually full of troubles and saddness. If it wasn't Civil War it would have been something else. I just hope they don't kill off Mary Jane and Aunt May and everyone he loves leaving him alone and sad. He needs someone, and some happyness. It just makes for a better story when there are spaces of reliefe or happyness in between the sadness and drama.

I agree about the X-Men, I mean I am not sure why they weren't involved (I heard they are all registered for some reason, sounds lame) but they should have been at the front of the Anti Registration line, side by side with Captain America. That would have been awesome, seeing Cyclops taking orders from Cap. Or Wolverine and Cap talking about battle plans.

I thought bringing back Captain Marvel would have been a HUGE deal. I mean he was like their Superman or something. He was a huge deal and so was his death. And then they have him in one pannel for the pro registration side. He should have been on the Anti side.

The Legends of Captain America
I love the idea of Captain America going on a road trip through America. I see him, after the fallout of the Civil War, he might be sort of on the run and sort of just roaming the countryside. Doing good deeds along the way, helping out where he is needed. Maybe is just roaming to search for answers or for himself and just can't stop himself from being a hero. I can see fables, myths, legends about Captain America (or a hero matching Steve's description) and his good deeds reaching the desk of SHEILD's Tony Stark.
That just sounds cool.

how could stve rogers travel the country ala david banner he's in federal prison?

Yeah, that would be the only flaw. Not that he couldn't get out of prison easily by say a break out by some super heroed friends or by on his own. Or Say Tony feels sorry for him and lets him go, thinking he is beaten and no threat.
But the only problem is that I think there might be some good stories, or at least two or three, that come out of Cap being in prison. He is a truely heroic man put in prison for no reason, and he just sits there and takes it with no complaints. I see that being important part of some stories to come.

But it still would be cool to see him released and travelling the country doing good.

It was already done and it's one of the reasons why it's ludicrous to accuse Cap of being out of touch with the times.

i've got a simple solution:

This is called a neuralizer. It's a gift from some friends from out of town...

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

A neuralizer... riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

if i did it i would have sue go back and try to contol the blast that killed all the kids, but it too much she is killed (vaperised) but its not as bad and she saves the kids only proporty is destroyed. no one knows what happened and with no body everything is set right.
