Characters you'd LOVE to see Recurring/Guest-starring

That's why I want a second season. If they could go this far with just 26 episodes. Imagine what would happen with another one.

This really is Marvel's answer to JLU, and it's even better. Look no disrespect to Bruce Timm, but without a great storyteller like Dini to guide it, the stories were generally just lacking for the most part on JL/JLU. The first season was very disappointing. Not much happened. And then they did a lot of subplots that really didn't go anywhere over the course of over 90 episodes. Dini only did a couple things here and there. Had he the level of involvement he did with the other animated shows, I think JL/JLU would've been even better.
i wil agree with you with season one of jl and season 3 of jlu but all the stuff in the middle is real animation gold, especially the second series of jlu and is probably the best storytelling of any american cartoon maybe even gargoyles.

as for the thread topic, i would like to see nate grey, rather than cable.

The Stepford Cuckoos!!! Pixie!!! PHOENIX SAGA!!!

I'm not sure how Dini being there would have resulted in more story progression; none of the previous Timm/Dini collaborations were known for arcs, they were just really good at status quo storytelling. Batman at the end of BTAS isn't much different then he was at the beginning. JLU seasons 1-2 had the most extensive plot arc of any of the DCAU shows (a classic).

The past two series have done the "Wolverine and Cap in World War II" episode, so I imagine we'll see him again here if the series gets another round (for a change, having them together in the present day would be fun; since the creators are so up on the current comics, maybe throw in the Winter Soldier as a mysterious figure in Logan's history).

TAS did an excellent adaptation of the whole Phoenix story (the "Phoenix" portion was wildly divergent (and better for it, I think), while "Dark Phoenix" was exacting), so I'd be interested to see how this show would approach it.

As a Canadian, I suppose I should plug Alpha Flight too.

Look no further than the series finale of Superman's show. After building Darkseid as the big story arc over the course of the series.

B:TAS, TNBA, and BB = Ra's Al Ghul. Also Return of the Joker. You can see something greater at work if you look at all the shows together and what they did with those characters.

Well my main point is right from the start the show established a great, big running story arc for the entire season, which I think JL failed to do in the first 2 seasons along with having weak character development and interaction.

My hope is anything they don't really do in this season, the show will be a big success and they can do in season 2.

With the rumored amount of characters popping up, I hope Alpha Flight is a good bet as well. I'd be interested to see what versions of Alpha Flight we would see. The Alpha Flight ep. of the 90's show is an old favorite of mine.

Wolverine's hard to do in Network TV. Just do it.

True. After all, John Semper managed to have Punisher guest star a few times on the censorship-pulverized SPIDER-MAN cartoon during the 90's on FoxKids several times.

I loved to see Colossus have a more envolved role in the series because Colossus fan's have been getting the shaft the past few xmen series/ movies. I would love for him to have his own episode.

I'd love for him to be part of the main, supporting cast. But at this point, yeah, I'd like another episode of his. It gets old clinging to bits with Juggernaut and Omega Red from the 90's. Colossus was in Evolution, but did very little.

A proper answer to JLU would be an AVENGERS cartoon. Literally every Marvel superhero who has appeared in about a dozen or more comics was a member or a reserve member at some point (even Wolverine). The X-Men can't claim that, even if there are a bazillion X-characters.

JL didn't start off great but got progressively better. Dini's episode, FYI, have stunk for quite some time. He did a few for JLU and STATIC SHOCK and they were never above average. JLU when it got going, though, was classic. But, different strokes, I guess. You also considered NEXT AVENGERS "original". ;)

The X-Men and the Avengers are basically coequal as Marvel superteams, so either would be an answer to JLU, I think. I'd certainly like to see an Avengers cartoon, since that's never been done properly.

That's because Next Avengers was good and fine for what it was. It was a good, separate elseworlds story that did reference Avengers with more classic, 616 style designs.

Dread still just has sour grapes about Avengers: United They Stand.

This is Marvel's answer to JLU, Avengers or no.

Precisely.

Having an Elseworlds version of a property you have never decently animated is usually considered a tease.

Who WOULDN'T have sour grapes about AVENGERS: UNITED THEY STAND; if not for SUPERFRIENDS, it would be the worst comic book cartoon ever made. At the end of the 90's the Marvel shows had a loose continuity amongst themselves and it would have been easy to do a show. Instead they caved to movie pre-production and Arad's fetish for action figure themes. Ironically, all of those figures were in the "2 for $5" bin before the series was even canned. That was our only shot at 616 Avengers, and I guarantee, the last. It is easy to feel just a tiny bit bitter about that.

Still, WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN is fine so far. It's off to a better start than EVOLUTION did, although it relies on whether or not someone likes Wolverine as the star. Beyond that, Beast's coming off well here. I seriously wasn't expecting any other character to really be written well here (wouldn't want Logan to get upstaged on his own show), but Hank nearly steals every scene he's in.

Still, the show has problems overselling certain bits. I thought the pilot went overboard showing Logan as Mr. X-Men and I don't buy that he was about to leave for anything other than plot convenience. Then in episode 2 when Logan has to fall for a trap that even a child could see coming felt forced. But so far, beyond some generic, good-but-not-fantastic action, the show's mostly positive. It's solid X-Men so far.

Dread, I love Avengers too. Chill out. A while back I remember you being so much more chill.

I'm a patient man, and I very much believe eventually we can get a stronger Avengers animated show to make up for United They Stand.

In the comics Logan is always going on an away mission for one reason for another while still being a part of every team x book and the Avengers.

A while back I didn't have as much pressure IRL. ;)

Oh, I know Logan is always going off on missions. Just I thought in the pilot they showed him as really being the "heart" of the team, the center cog, before Xavier got zapped so it seemed odd that he was leaving. Like I said, I understood why and all that from a story perspective, but I thought they were overplaying their hand. The show wants it to seem like a surprise that Logan is leading the X-Men; instead my reaction from what I was shown was, "oh, makes perfect sense".

I'm patient but it has been nearly a decade since the last stab at a 616 Avengers show and in that time we have Ultimate, which mass media considers more "realistic" and an upcoming movie, which will influence any cartoon that comes next. I may be well into middle age before a TV show has faith in the non-Ultimate or Tween led Avengers.

GAMBIT!, Synch :o, Magneto, Deadpool and Apocalypse.

Deadpool for sure
Chamber
Cannonball
Madrox
Mimic
Random
Alpha Flight

For a season 2, I'd love to see Bastion and an Operation: Zero Tolerance style storyline somewhere down the road. They could even keep Wolverine as a focus, but it'd be badass if they had Wolvie, Iceman, Cecelia Reyes, and Marrow fighting the sentinels alone while the rest of the team gets kidnapped or something.

Or, stick to the 616 story and have Wolvie, Cyke, Jean (if she comes back and stays), and Storm rescuing a kidnapped mutant (Jubilee), while the subplot could be Iceman, Marrow, and Cecelia. You could throw in Beast with the Wolvie crowd for good measure, and maybe Kitty or Nightcrawler with Iceman. Angel and the others could be kidnapped or just not part of the story.

I like how this Sabretooth looks like a fusion between TAS' & Evo's. :)

Cecilia Reyes could be very cool!! also the Morlocks leads by Callisto and Longshot!

After this last episode, I'd definitely like to see more of Bishop.

Alpha Flight
Maggott
Banshee
Siryn

Madrox
Captain America

Also, Wolverine and Spider-Man episodes in a similar vein to the 'Blockbuster' arc in ULTIMATE X-MEN.

Man, looks like I am still one of the few who wants Colossus to show up.

There's another season coming, so there is always a chance he could make some appearance and have some critical moment or two in the sophmore season.

Then again, there is also a chance of oil prices falling to $1 a gallon. The question is about probability.

He showed up in the X-MEN cartoon of 1993-1994 in two episodes across the first two seasons. To date those are STILL his best animated appearances. He showed up about 7-8 times in X-MEN EVOLUTION but did/said very little. And before the 90's there was PRYDE OF THE X-MEN which had nice animation but little else.

Considering Wolverine and Nightcrawler are on the team, it's a shame the big man's been ixnay'd. They were an X-unit back in the day.
