Chloe Sullivan

Last seen: Okay – not yet, but we announced back in December that the character from Smallville would be making a trip to comics to join the Superman supporting cast.

DiDio says: “Chole is an exciting character on the television show, and we had hoped to work her into DC continuity, but unfortunately, the stars did not align properly, and even though we had announced it, she will not be appearing in any of the issues of Superman or Action Comics

sense wins out! I feel a bit sorry for the chloe fans who were so excited though

"stars did not align properly" meaning they're going to kill her eventually on Smallville...

It is sad but it was a bad move from the start. Chloe was made because at the time SV couldn't use Lois plus it made no sense to have Lois show up so early in Clark's life that they needed that type of person. IMO I think they should have killed Chloe off at the end of season 3 as it was implied. I mean that was the perfect way to get rid of her and introduce Lois at the same time and they blew it. But also if you saw most of the fans reaction when they said they were putting her in the comics it wasn't that positive.

Most people were okay with adding Chris Kent into the comics because Donner was doing the story, also it has been hinted at since Lois and Clark that they wanted to give Superman and Lois a child. Hell Rucka's run was suppose to end with Lois getting pregnant and even the OYL arc was suppose to once again do that. But most people were ready for them to have a family much like the Flash which is why people were okay with Chris they just feel it should be Lois and Clark's child instead of Zod and Usra.

Yeah!!! What is ridiculous, is that they changed their minds so quickly, could it be that Chloe is getting toasted? Bye, bye Chloe? :D

It's probably just because G&M weren't going to get any money from it.:cwink:

Very strange about "stars not aligning"...wonder what happened

See I knew this would happen . I'm sorry to say but adding Chloe into the comics just wouldn't work .

For a couple of reasons

1. She wouldn't be the same character in the comics like she is on the tv show . She'd be a water down version .

2. The role she plays right now in show is already filled in the comics by both Lois & Lana (Lois Lane is a full time well known and respected top ace reporter @ The Daily Planet & she's Clark/Superman's wife) & (lana was Clark's girlfriend & confindent growing up in smallville in the comics)

3. Chloe's probably going to die before the series ends .

I still think they should just wait until they bring Conner back from the dead and use her in his series and they had planed to from the start.

dare I say most of her fans don't actually read the comics but think having her in them gives her status in the myth

No the thing with having Chloe in the comics pretty much gives SV a place in the Superman myth. Like it or not Supergirl aside where is SV place in the myth? I mean once SV is over what trace will we have to show how much of an impact it made. In mean to be honest a year or two after the show ends it will go the way of Superboy. This was SV chance to make it into the Superman myth IMO I mean Birthright was not based off of SV and had nothing to do with it and every other media in show shape or form made it into the comics but SV pretty much hasn't unless it is to be a joke about the show (hint Superman/Batman freak of the week comment) that wasn't giving props to the show but poking fun at it. I would love to she Chloe in the comics but I think her place is not with Superman but Supergirl or Superboy (Conner Kent). I mean Kara could really use a friend right now and Chloe could fill that role and if Conner comes back she could be his new Tina.

The problem is the role you want to give her is filled by Cassie. Both Supergirl and Superboy are more a part of the superhero world of DC unlike Superman who is with the Daily planet. They socialise with superheroes like the legion, other titans and the outsiders rather than a human supporting cast. Chloe really wouldn't fit in in either.

It's about freaking time Lois & Clark get a kid of their own . I love Christopher Kent, he's made such a great addition to the mythology . I can't wait to see where they take him storywise .

Anyway, we don't need Chloe in the comics, she's fine within the SV "mythology", a water down version does her no justice.

Yay! She's not coming in the comics! (I don't even read Superman comics, but I'm still happy)

I like Chloe but her fans suck. It's funny, I have similar feelings about Jesus...

Here's the solicitation that was originally announced:

Paragon is loose in Metropolis, Clark and Lois are hunting for a new place to live after the events of "Insect Queen," and worse, they've got relatives coming to visit -- namely, a certain blonde cousin of Lois' from Smallville. It all sets the stage for a major new addition to the cast in next month's anniversary issue! Can you say "Chloe Sullivan"?

Stories get changed around in the comics more than the shipping delays on the books, which is hard to imagine at times.

Geoff Johns had a huge Krypto story delayed then scratched, the 3D issue got moved.
Plus Busiek is leaving the title soon so he probably didn't get the story he wanted so he bailed.

I doubt Busiek would leave over not being allowed to use Chloe. It is rumored that Busiek is one of the head people working on the next big thing after Final Crisis which is why he left.
