Welcome to the world of entertainment. But that was my point: TV as a medium is an awesome thing. The technology is far from "crappy." But the selection of entertainment offered within that medium is up for debate - just like it is with film, books, compact discs, etc.
Bringing this topic back to where it started, having a proprietary character jump from one medium to another says more about the popularity of that character than the medium to which the character goes. Furthermore, slamming television as a crappy medium when comics themselves began as "pulp" fiction because of the cheap paper stock used is pretty darn funny.
It's the same argument for TV vs. film actors. Talent is not defined by the medium in which he/she is known, but luck comes into play quite a bit. LOL
FWIW, I have no idea what the hell he's talking about.
Comic Book Resources,
Newsarama,
DC Comics. Other than the same people complaining about "mary sue" characterizations, it's not a bad reception at all. Most seem to be enthused because it's Busiek writing. There are people who are indifferent as well as both lovers and haterz of SV commenting. Some folks don't watch SV and don't know who Chloe is. Others say she's the best character on the entire show. Other than the Lois comparisons, I've yet to see a wall of complaints from people citing Spider-Man or SR references. Maybe one person used the analogy, I dunno. I didn't see it. Somebody on one of those boards did joke about when the comics might bring in Nuclear Man from SIII. Hah! That was funny.
I tend to place more stock in posts from people who are regular contributors to the boards on which they frequent (i.e. - somebody with more than five posts in their history and who didn't just register yesterday). I also don't count posts from the *same* user(s) who post to various boards with the same opinion cut and pasted multiple times. Reference the "mary sue" arguments. Twenty posts from the same user on three different boards doesn't a negative general opinion make.
Anyhoo... I got more gifts to wrap. I hate this time of the year. Bah, humbug. LOL
