Oh, you're so intelligent Will. You think using big words and trying to paint yourself as some uber intelligent poster makes you special? Who says we're honoring his personal life? Who says we're honoring a murderer? We're honoring his accomplishments in the career of professional wrestling.

He was a great wrestler with great talent and was very passionate in the craft. Am I disgusted? Yes. If it's proven he did kill his wife and son I will not look at him in the same light as I once did, but it does not make me dismiss his accomplishments as one of the greatest, if not, the greatest professional wrestler I had ever seen.

So just because he did the unthinkable we should just automatically ignore what he did in the ring? Are we supposed to ignore OJ's accomplishments? Are we supposed to ignore Victor Salva? Who is a convicted child molester and has went on to make great films in Powder, Jeepers Creepers, and Peaceful Warrior?

Yes, they did or may've done some horrible deeds, but it would be wrong to ignore the great things they did in terms of entertainment.

Hitler was a great painter you know :whatever:

It's real easy to sit on the high horse.

Well said. It's amazing that so many people around here immediately jump to saying "He's going to Hell" and don't see anything wrong with that. If you honestly believe in the Bible and Hell, yet you take joy in another human being's tragic end and eternity in agony, then you're pretty sick yourself. Nobody is defending what he did, but Christ people, have a little class and tact.

McMahon probably didn't know the details. They found out a few hours before the show and went and canceled it. Details about the incident weren't released til 10:00 pm last night, 2 hours into the tribute.

Even if he did do it, I will not change my avatar. Chris Benoit is a legend whose legacy has been tainted by a horrendous act, an unforgiveable act. That doesn't mean he wasn't one of the best of all time. I use my avatar to memorialize the man he was, not the man he died as.

He's always been one of my favorites, and I mourn him and his family.

Find peace in the next world, Chris. As my other favorite says: 'Rest In Peace.'
caretaker14 i thinkyour stand is the right one

Yup. And they canceled the tributes that were supposed to take place on ECW and Smackdown.

There's something wrong about seeing great films and Jeepers Creepers in the same sentence.:o

Well that "tribute" was a complete wast of time. I watched it for about 5 min just to see what everyone had to say. After hearing what happened, all i can say is good riddance to Benoit. The world doesn't need another insane human being, it just sucks that he had to take 2 innocent people with him.

I don't mean great as in Lord of the Rings or Batman Begins great. But great as in entertaining and having a sense of quality to them. But again it's just my opinion.

Not every murderer has a 'mental illness'. Some people do it because they want to or feel they should. Mental illness implies that he couldn't help it or didn't know what he was doing. He obviously did.

because they didn't know any of the details aside from the fact that they were all dead.

None of the performers were in the right state of mind to perform. Plus when any performer has died they will scrap the night's stories and have a tribute so it was the right thing to do at the time. They only found out a few hours before their show was to start. As mentioned before Regal was smart to say Benoit was the best wrestler and talk about Benoit later once all the details were known. HHH respected him the most, but how do you respect him now?

It was well documented that Hitler was a monster. Who in the world respected Hitler other than fellow Neo Nazi's and Arnold Schwarzenegger? Nice try though.

You do know wrestling is fake right? Talking about a pro wrestler's "accomplishments" is like crediting an actor with the accomplishments of the character he plays. It's like crediting Harrison Ford with fighting off the Nazi's. it didnt happen, it's all scripted. Unlike OJ Simpson, bag of scum that he is, who actually accomplished his feats in the NFL.

It's also hilarious how some people in this forum act as if they knew Benoit. You didnt know him, you knew his character he played in the WWE. All you know of the guy is a manufactured persona that was made to fit their less than soap opera quality "dramas."

No one is taking "joy" in Benoit's actions. But i would tell anyone that kills their family and then commits suicide to burn in hell. it's a heinous and disgraceful act and I feel terrible for his family. Being a husband and father myself, I cant think of a more despicable act.

Well if the "looneys" keep commiting acts like these, then thats really not a bad idea. All im saying is there is one less f**k up to worry about in the world. Benoit was a f**k up.

Couldn't agree more. Well said.

I'm going to explain to you in a way that you can understand.

Yes, professional wrestling is scripted and fake. The outcomes are obviously decided before the match even starts. The bumps they take is very much real and the injuries are very much real. If the accomplishments didn't mean anything to them they(the wrestlers) wouldn't have replicas made of the past championships they've won.

Great ones like The Rock, Jericho, Bret Hart, Eddie Guerrero, and etc all have replica championships made when they won big time championships or awards. Yes, it is fake, but it doesn't take away the fact that they entertained in the ring.

I love how many of you try to spin an argument to fit your own views rather than be intelligent about it. Wrestling is a sport and so is professional wrestling. Only difference is amateur wrestling isn't scripted and professional wrestling is.

An accomplishment in pro wrestling, is just like other sports. This one may be predetermined, but to be recognized as the best in the world, no matter what you do, is an accomplishment.

You act as though, all wrestlers are guys playing dress up, and completely looking past the fact that these guys are all athletes. Lawrence Taylor said himself, that wrestling was a hell of a lot harder than pro football.

Is it legit, no, but that doesn't mean you can look down on the guys that do it, just because, their championships are scripted symbols, rather than actual trophies.
