You're right, she wasn't a psychiatrist. But do you have to be a psychiatrist to know something is wrong with a person? I don't disagree with what you're saying in the slightest. But as I said, he had to be a really great actor to be able to hide this side of him.

I am sorry if I come off as being a prick and I am sorry if it seems like I'm blaming her. I am not blaming her in any way shape or form. It just seems odd that no one seemed to notice something odd about him. But again that's just me.

again, you don't know that no one seemed to notice something odd. what are you basing that on? do you honestly think the average person is able to accurately diagnose mental illness to the point where they can determine whether someone is capable of murder? and keep in mind if it's someone close to you like a husband or wife you're hardly coming from an objective viewpoint.

Honestly the first time I heard this story I thought it was carbon monoxide, it wasn't until this morning I heard it was murder-suicide and even hoped something would come out to make this horrible story less horrible.

But, the way you are making it sound, you want to exonerate him or at least explain his actions when it's almost probable you will never get a why or how to it.

I'm just trying to wrap my head around the situation. It still doesn't make sense to me at all, and maybe it never will. Out of all the things I felt about Benoit there's no way I would've thought he would be a murderer.

No, not diagnose a particular problem. But maybe if someone close to Benoit say a fellow wrestler who was his friend, travelled with him, and so forth had to have noticed something odd right?

As a punishment for killing his family, instead of going wherever bad people go when they die(wanna be curteous of all religions); Chris should just have to read the last 10 pages of this thread over...and over...and over.

and who's to say they didn't?

No. Death is too good for him. Let him rot in jail with the memory of taking his sons life forever.

she got off ok.

Again you are trying to find rhyme or reason to explain his actions. And even if you could, it wouldn't exonerate him.

That's why so many people have a problem with your avatar. Even if wrestling was real and everything he accomplished wasn't scripted, it still wouldn't change the fact of how he ended his life and that's why so many people find it distasteful.

I'm shocked to hear this as the next guy, but I'm confused how adults in this thread can't face the reality. The only person you "knew" was the entertainer on television and in the ring. The guy was known to live a very private life. He kept lot of his problems to himself. The guys had a history of abusing his spouse. Those incidents of spousal abuse, threats, drug use, etc.........that's the REAL him. Not the acting he does on television for a few minutes.

You know, I'm very disgusted at how some of the morons on this forum are making and sporting Benoit avatars, glamorizing and worshipping an evil man who would kill his own family. :o

Agreed, the only reason people feel sorry for this bastard is because he entertained them with his steroid laced antics. We should find a way to bring him back to life just so we can kill him again.

It begins

I really feel bad for the kids that are still alive. I mean the wife and kid that are dead, well thats it for them but the kids that are still alive will have to live with this for the rest of their life. Their father put a permanent stain on them that will affect them the rest of their life.

I agree. But as I said, there had to have been someone who noticed something odd about Benoit.

It's not that simple. People with mental illness learn to hide it well. My uncle disappeared when I was 12 and his body was never found. He was married with three boys, each under 15. His boat, with keys in the ignition and coffee mug on the dash, was found anchored in the Columbia River. The Coast Guard testified the likelihood of surviving the temperature and current was nil and that he couldn't have made it to shore. There was standing room only at his memorial. The entire damn town was mourning and grieving together. 11 years later he wrote to my mother (his sister) to tell her he faked his death and 'being dead' was too hard.

NO ONE - family, friends, co-workers, acquaintances - believed this was possible. But it happened.

How many times have you heard someone interviewed after a murder and they say, "Gosh, he was just the nicest man, I would have never suspected!"

Mental illness rarely makes sense. That what makes it so terrifying and difficult to treat.

ya know I once wrote a horror script about a guy that would bring murderers, rapists, etc that had died back to life so he could torture them. I may have to dig that up and see what Uwe Boll is doing these days....
