Chris Cornell quits Audioslave...

I could see him doing a super-mellow, mournful acoustic version like a Johnny Cash type song, a dude's story of woe and woman problems, and it sounding genuine.
But it'd have to be re-worked a lot, like that acoustic "Layla" E. Clap did in the 90's.

no, please, no soundgarden getting back together ever.
I want to have awesome memories of rocking out to "drawing flies" and thinking how ****ing great "hands all over" was and how badass it was that they covered Spinal Tap.
a reunion would just let me see all those little problems that were always there but now magnified.
the bassist that's strangely reminiscent of lyle Lovett, The often overly dramatic performances by Cornell.

Good riddance. That band was a sorry substitute for Rage or Soundgarden.

It was, they were good then somehow they became crap. I hope Rage against the machine will now reunite for good and not for just one show. They need to come back.

Soundgarden will never reunite because Chris Cornell CANNOT sing most of the old songs; he lost his ridiculous range -- hell, he had trouble singing "Spoonman" when Audioslave tried to cover it.

As far as what Cornell does: the man can do whatever he wants.

You know.... I've read that way back in 1988 Faith No More was courting Chris Cornell to be their frontman before they signed Mike Patton. I've always wondered what that would have been like.
How cool would it be if FNM reunite and Cornell joined them?
(This post is severely hypothetical because I know it would never happen.)

that song has some sort of magical hold over 90's music stars, Ian Brown from the stone roses also did a cover of it like 6 years ago.
and I've heard countless bands do that one specific song over and over and over.
I think they're being ironically hip or something.

Billy Jean is just a great song, that's all there is to it

I liked Audioslave. And Soundgarden. I pretty much just love Cornell's voice. I hope he does something new, quick.

It's ironic that "Revelations" was Audioslave's poorest selling record because it was easily the only record they made that was worth a damn. The rest of their output was garbage. I wondered how long it would take for Morello's ego to clash with Cornell's, too. The answer? Three albums. I could care less about RATM at this point. They've done all they have to do and anything after the fact is going to come off as contrived and pandering to the masses for more money and glory. Soundgarden needs to stay dead, too, and not taint their legacy. It sounds like Cornell is moving forward and that's the best thing he can do. If that Chris Daughtry jackass from American Idol can have a hot solo career then Cornell should be able to have an even hotter one.
