I liked Young's score a lot. I also liked Elfman's. I just don't feel that the score is as crucial as it was 20-30 years ago. Superman's score was iconic. Right along with Star Wars & Indiana Jones. You can't make a Star Wars or Indy flick without their long-established, definitive theme music. Nowadays it's just not as big a deal. When Burton left the Bat-films, he took Elfman with him. And it wasn't a really big deal when he did. The score for the Schumacher movies wasn't bad. There was no outcry for the return of Elfman's tunes. Nor did it happen when we saw The Incredible Hulk. It's just not make-or-break anymore, for any movie. I can't think of any film whose score ever just put me off. I don't think I've ever walked out of a theater saying, "The movie was alright, but that theme music was just horrible!" And I can't remember the last time I thought, "I got to get that score album!"
